MCM Electronics is proud to continuously support our parent company, Premier Farnell's, green initiative. We strive to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible. Below are some of the ways we do this.
Repurposed Packaging
As a distributor of over 400 of the industry's leading brands, we are constantly unpacking incoming boxes and repacking outgoing boxes. Instead of sending incoming boxes off to the recycle center, we reuse boxes to ship product out to our customers. You'll recognize these boxes by the MCM recycles sticker on the side.
FSC Certified Paper
Most of our printed, advertisement pieces are made up of FSC certified paper. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an independent, non-profit organization, was founded to promote responsible management of the world's forests. The FCS provides a high standard of responible production and consumption of forests in more than 50 countries around the world.
Gardening at the Distribution Center
Our green initiative doesn't stop indoors. We're fortunate enough to have a good bit of land surrounding our distribution center which any employee is free to use to plant and maintain a personal garden. MCM tills and prepares the garden plots and employees plant and harvest. There is also a compost wheel for all food waste.
Recycling
Of course, we also do a lot of green things that aren't quite as cool as the above, including recycling of aluminum cans, plastic (bottles, shrink wrap, packaging wrap) and paper (magazines, printer paper) at both our sales office and distribution center. Recycling is open to on site recyclables and employee's home recyclables. Our recycling efforts have cut waste by over 33% in the last 12 months and will continue to do so in the future.
Green Vendors
Given the choice, MCM only selects and uses green vendors. Everything from our bathroom supplies to office materials are purchased from green vendors and made from recycled materials.
