  I agree with the previous review....the actual solder station is a great unit for the money but something has changed with the tips. My tip also was burning off its finish in a short time. I am hoping mcm figures this out and the tip situation improves. It may just be a defective lot.

  We have used these for several years. I agree w/ the other comments until recently. With the last 2 units we just put in service, the tips burn the plating off in about 5 minutes. MCM is making them good, but has anybody been experiencing similar problems w/ these? The new replacement handles do the same thing on the older stations. For now, we are going to a different solder station. I hate to leave these, but something is not right with them.

  I've used cadillac Metcals and Wellers. Frankly they are 99% hype and scare. Heat the joint, it melts...simple as that. The biggest thing is CONSUMABLES and I can't stand expensive tips that don't last a long time. [Hint: Its the plating thickess] So buy this Tenma and you'll experience QUALITY tips that are inexpensive and last a long time. I love this thing...wanna buy a second.

  Dial is calibrated in degrees F for easy setting. I agree with the other reviews. The unit isn't as fancy as the LCD/LED readout models, but for most soldering temperature setting is an educated guess anyway. The iron holder is weighted and has holes for extra tips. IMHO a fine stainless steel bush is the best tip cleaner beating a wet sponge. Suggest using anti-seize compound on heating element barrel screw. Good buy, recommended. Geek1945

  I LOVE MY SOLDERING STATION IT WORKS PERFECT AND COMPAIRED TO THE HAKO STATION I HAVE A WORK ITS SO MUCH BETTER. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO SOLDER SO GOOD THE TEMPERURE REGULATION IS PERFECT. I'VE BEEN SOLDERING FOR OVER 30 YEARS TOO !
