  What a clever idea! I used to put a diode and a rocker switch in the power cord of my 40W soldering pencil, back in the day. When I didn't need much heat, I turned the switch off, and the diode effectively cut down to 25W. So here's a pencil with the diode and switch built into it. The switch is a momentary, so you have to hold it down to get the super heat effect. It really does get hot! But as big jim said, it's not really 130W. And, as dx points out, this product does not last long. I've purchased several in the last ten years, because A) it's so handy and B) it only gives a few hours at high heat before it burns out. Replacement element? Faggettaboutit!

  MCM needs to check the specs on this iron, while it meets the 20 watt spec the boost is only 42 watts not 130 watts. I have 2 and both check the same.

  Very fast warm-up for brief soldering job. Use anti-seize on barrel screw. Good buy on sale.
