Do the job.
Many affordable battery testers seem to be designed to show a battery's state in terms that I would describe as 'too optimistic'. In other words, the device you were running with said batteries technically died, yet testing the batteries still shows then as "good". Unless all you are using is a flashlight, that is a gross misrepresentation of their usefulness. Modern electronics demand a minimum voltage and current level, below which they will not operate correctly. This tester seems to be one of the more realistic ones I have seen, showing within reason when a battery is still usable, or needs to be replaced.
Although the unit states each battery is tested under load , it does not state the load current for each battery position. I had to actually measure the current to verify and document. The scale does seem to vary a bit from unit to unit in the battery voltage measured. I actually added 2 pin jacks across the battery's connections that I use the most AA and 9v, so that a DVM can be added and the actual V be read. Useful in calibrating the meter scale .
A nice accurate tester with good battery holders.
I have had this battery tester for several years and it has worked great. It tests most types of batteries under load, much better than the no load test of a multi-meter. It's easy and quick to use. I liked it so much I am ordering another one because our Golden Retreive chewed up my first one.
