Bi-Directional Cable Drop Amplifier

Take advantage of our limited opportunity on this high performance signal amplifier from Holland Electronics. Designed for use as a drop amplifier on a distributed cable system, it is suitable for any television application including indoor or outdoor antennas. Its die cast housing is hermetically sealed and completely suitable for outdoor use. Return path amplification is provided, making this suitable for broadband, digital cable and similar environments.

Note: Limited Quantities Included AC adapter can be connected directly to the unit, or remotely powered over the coax cable with the optional power inserter. And because this unit is DC power passive, a single supply is able to power more than one amplifier placed in series on the same coax line. Perfect for compensating for long cable runs.

This is a very nice amp but read the manufacturers specs first!

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I suggest downloading the manufacturers spec sheet for this device (hcda-1fra-AG). The max input is +7dBmV (not +45dBmV) and max output is +25dBmV. The maximum return path input is indeed +45dB resulting in a max return output of +55dBmV. Just search the web and you will find the Manufactures PDF file for the specifications. If your input is higher than +7dBmV it will eventually cause you problems, clipping the output due to the amplifier being in saturation etc. The visual indications on your TV will be intermittent picture glitches/freezing of the picture for fractions of a second. Just add an attenuator or a splitter to the input of the amp if the signal is too high. Reading your modems input/output power levels will help if you don't have a cable meter handy setting up the amplifiers Forward/Reverse gains.

Absolutely flawless product. A real life-saver/problem-solver in a distributed cable system, and built like a tank. In my case, by cranking the fwd gain and reducing the return gain, I was able to get great digital/HD signal to receivers/boxes at the end of a LONG run, while at the same time eliminating the return-path interference that was causing all the bi-directional digital products (internet/on-demand/phone) to quit functioning.
