Audio from the FM band can overcome the audio on adjacent television channels 6 and 7 and harmonics of the FM carrier. The FM trap eliminates the entire FM band from 88 to 108MHz reducing video noise and audio interference.

  There are two ways to design an FM trap 1) make sure it kills all FM in spite of what it does to adjacent channels 2) kill as much of the FM band as possible without affecting adjacent channels. There is no right way, just right for your application. The designers of this part chose method 1. The 20 dB attenuation spec on this part is a minimum attenuation within the FM band. Mid band it is more like 30 dB attenuation. I bought 6 of these, and they very quite a bit, but all of them meet the 20 dB attenuation spec. Since the high end of channel 6 is 88MHz and the low end of the FM band is 88MHz, if you kill the whole FM band (as this part is designed to do), you also kill channel 6. At the low end of channel 6, the attenuation varied part to part between 5.39 to 7.7 dB, at the high end, the attenuation varied between 26.2 dB and 34.3 dB, so if you are trying to get channels 5 or 6, this is not the right part for you, otherwise it works fine.
