  This unit may provide satisfactory results into a computer which has an RIAA equalization program installed but is unacceptable for use with a stereo receiver/amplifier because it doesn't supply RIAA equalization which results in very poor sound due to the lack of bass emphasis (boost) & treble deemphasis (cut). When a record is cut the low frequencies are reduced and the high frequencies boosted, and on playback the opposite occurs. Using this preamplifier will produce sound with very little bass & too much treble. More information about RIAA equalization can be found on the Wikipedia site.

  People still have old records that they need to work with their new high tech audio receivers that don't have the correct phono input. This is the piece needed to make that happen. It's a no brainer to hook up. No configuring or crazy setup. Just plug it in and it works.

  I hooked up this item and it works fairly well until you increase the volumn. It sounds as though the ground from the turntable to the pre-amp is not working. If anyone has a solution to this problem I would like to know
