    Good product, but needs directions

    Overall: 4 out of 5

Bought this for background music and it does the job quite well. It picks up radio stations fairly well without an external antenna. I only have a few issues with the product so far: 1) They need more detailed instructions or a website with detailed operation instructions. Not because I'm not intelligent enough to figure it out, but I had set the playback feature to "random" at one point and now I can't figure out how to do that again. 2) It would be nice to have more features that can be operated without the remote control. (Maybe this can be done, but there are no instructions on how to do it!) 3) The range on the remote could be just a bit more. 4) Why not offer a power supply with it? Customers may not see that a separate power supply is needed for operation.

Overall it works just as it should. I haven't heard the "buzz" that others are talking about. The sound quality isn't super, but it's adequate for the price.

    Piece of crap

    Overall: 1.5 out of 5

I have had 2 of these now and they work great for a lil while but they both have developed a buzzing that wont go away ,. I have tried batteries and power supply and they just are not very good..made in china.. I suspect they have a cap going bad in it.

MP3 Player works great, could use a better FM antenna

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I like this MP3 player, it works very well and is easy to use. FM antenna could be bigger or maybe a spot to hook up a outside antenna if used indoors. If you are close to radio towers then I think it will work fine.

    Great Gadget

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I needed a tuner for my workshop and this does the trick with the added bonus of allowing me to play MP3s from an SD card or flash drive when the radio programs isn't what I want. For $12.50 it works great! Be sure to lower its internal volume or it will overdrive the amp or powered speaker you connect it to and distort.

    NDVA-1000 Outstanding Product

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I am very surprised of the features and sound quality of this unit.. some prior reviewers said there was a low leveling buzzing in the background... they are correct.. this is from the car ignition... I was able to reduce the interference to almost nothing by increasing the volume of the NDVA 1000 using the remote control and lowering the volume of my car radio aux player.. This unit can read at least 7.3 GB of MP3 files that I converted from cda music, it may even load higher amounts only trying will tell. This unit has a random feature on the remote that will randomly select MP3's from the 2000 songs I loaded on the USB flash drive. I made music folders and labeled them alphabetically. I had to use the Fatsorter program to allow the NDVA 1000 to read the USB flash drive in the correct alpha numerical order. I created a word doc list of the album names in alphabetical order and assigned a number of all the songs 1 to 2000. I also assigned a file name number for each MP3 song file in windows, this way I could select what album I wanted to hear using the list and the remote control. When I add more music to the USB flash drive I will need to run the Fatsorter program again to put the songs I added in alphabetical order and I will also have to update the word doc to correlate to the new numbering sequence. If the added album is alphabetically high like T, it will be easier to revise the list since I will only have to change the word doc from T to the end. I am more than happy with the NDVA 1000.

Really good value on a mediocre product

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I ordered one of these on sale and even at the regular price it cost substantially less than what it's offered for on Am@zon. It didn't respond to the remote so I contacted MCM and they sent out a new unit. Just got it today and it seems to work well. Just so you know, the EQ button doesn't seem to actually do anything as far as EQ goes, but is a non-issue for me. I couldn't tell that there was any unpleasant noise when connect to my audio mixer. The real value in a product like this is if you want to have music connected to a paging system or PA/DJ setup. It sure beats the cost of a rackmount tuner handsdown in terms of what you get for the money spent. Hats off to MCM for the no-hassle replacement.

Added USB capability to older car stereo

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5

I bought this to listen to podcasts on a road trip and avoid the need to burn CDs. Used a 12V cigarette lighter adapter to power it and connected the line out to the aux input on the car stereo. I found that if you paused playback before turning the car off, when reapplying power the device would resume the podcast where you left off. It worked well for podcasts. At high volumes I noticed some background noise (might have been picking it up from the car engine) which would prevent me from using it for serious music listening.

    Overall: 4 out of 5

Overall a very nice and useful device. It's easy to use and connect inputs, outputs and power. One thing it does not tell you in the description or instructions is that is is capable of directly-driving low impedance headphones from the output jack, and without an external amplifier. The only problem I have discovered is that there is substantial low-level digital noise present at the output. It seems to be caused by the relatively high current drawn by the LED display as it is multiplexed by the microprocessor inside. As the display changes, you can hear the digital noise change slightly. There is probably a ground loop present in the PCB design inside which causes the LED current pulses to be superimposed on the audio output. It is present no matter if playing an MP3 file, or using the FM radio, or the external analog input. The noise level does not change with the volume setting, and it is probably too much to allow using this cute little unit in a professional application. Still, a very good value for the money. The FM radio works quite well, even just using the little telescoping antenna that comes wit it.
