BNC Video + DC Power Balun
Use to send composite video signal and low voltage DC over Cat5 cable. This balun features very compact size, and a male BNC connector, attached to an 8" pigtail, for easy attachment directly to equipment. In addition to the BNC connection, two screw terminals are provided for direct access to two cable pairs (in parallel).

  Are you are still running analog cameras and have and issues with a bit of chroma loss then you may have an issue. If you are re-utilizing an older system in a new install this is the only way to go so you can be ready for IP if the site needs it later on. Also, 4 dB loss is only on the higher end, thus there is a bit of chroma loss, luminance is carried nearly perfectly. Get over your self and just crank up the chroma on your 20 year old tube monitor if this item is that bad. Analog video should be measured with a Vector Scope and WFM, not an oscilloscope. Have fun taking a Polaroid of your monitor to give to the cops if you think you need to run coax instead of using this balun.

  Use these regularly, never had a problem, not even once. Installations vary from 50' or so, to 500', picture always looks fine. Even used a pair to carry power well over 400', with no issues whatsoever. MCM's price is great too, among the lowest anywhere. Highly recommended.

  Even though rated for 1000' at less than 200' the resulting picture was unacceptable. When Tested on an oscilloscope I found a 60% insertion loss using 2ft of Cat5 cable and at 200ft the signal was less than 10% of the original. Most video baluns claim a 2db insertion loss per pair, these are closer to 4db per pair plus cable length. Even using an Active Balun on either side didn't help these.
