I purchased 2 different 6.5's to simply destroy while testing some box design theories I wanted to explore. I wanted to explore the double band pass, and did not want a "sub woofer" with an extremely low Fs as I wanted to how the box could shape the result. I built it to spec for the first 6 and did blow that speaker after an hour or so playing 18 hz. (but for a time it shook the room) This sub was a little out of spec for that box, but not too bad, so I figured" box built, have extra sub." Wow!. Throttling back a 250 watt test amp this thing really sounded good. It did not have near the impact my 15" reference sub did, but it did go lower. After a year on the shelf my friend purchased a Camaro that had a RF p2 installed in a sealed box, but the previous owner was not selling it with the car so he had to give it back, he was subless. The idea was to use it until he found a new sub. We installed the box in the car which fit perfectly in the hatch area and hooked up the 150 watt mono amp. we did our first test listen and bam. nice strong clean kick, and when the bass dropped to 32 hz it did so gracefully and with no signs of giving up.Closing the doors and standing outside the car we see some hatch rattle, but it sounds like a fat 12" sub.Now it did not have amazing spl, but it sounded very very good, and went very deep. It kept up with the stock system, never sounding lacking in volume or depth with regular music, even rap. If you like to tinker, or want clean deep bass and do not need high spl at $12 this is a cool speaker. Wish I could upload pics.

    • "Perhaps the best speaker in the series" by wartstew on 9/10/2014

This speaker, when mounted in a properly tuned bass reflex enclosure strikes an excellent balance between providing both deep bass, reaching below 40 Hz and clear well defined mid range (with properly designed crossover that likely includes a zobel network). I've amazed a lot of people with how good these speakers sound even before I tell them how low cost this driver actually is. Their construction makes them somewhat weather resistant besides.

I bought this to use in the factory sub enclosure in my 1997 Lincoln Town Car with the JBL Premium sound system. The factory sub was completely blown since before I bought the car, so having some bass is a nice change since I spend a lot of time in the car. I'm actually pretty impressed with this woofer, considering its not technically a sub, it handles low frequencies quite well. It is also nearly identical to the original sub, and fit in the factory box without modification. There is a lot of misinformation out there about the JBL system, and sub failures are common, so if anyone needs a new sub in their Town Car, look no further.

I had a blown woofer in a 20 year old Polk Audio Studio Monitor Series speaker I wanted to get back up and running. These MCM woofers fit the specs. Note: I did have to cut the inside opening in the cabinet for the speaker by 1/8" to meet the required cut out. Covered the tweeter with masking tape and had at it. After doing that, it dropped in, I drilled some pilot holes and screwed it down. Powered it up on the stereo I couldn't believe the sound. Comparing it with the other original there was no difference. The bass was actually better with the new speaker. Now it's like new. Love it. Thanks MCM.

I purchased 8 of these for a mobile audio system, they were installed 4 per door wired @ 2ohm stereo off a 300w x2 amplifier. The smoothness and warmth displayed by these drivers was perfect. I had friends running speakers costing 10x what mine did and they were amazed at the sound I was producing. If my current vehicle would support this same setup I would hands down do it again.
