    • "Great value for the money but..." by dickst on 5/7/2014
      Overall: 4 out of 5

Great value if you understand its limitations at the upper end. I was hoping to use it as a single driver amateur radio communications speaker in a sealed enclosure. While the low end is more than adequate, it just does not have adequate high end for nice sounding voice in a single driver application. The frequency response is quoted as 50Hz ~ 17KHz, but if you look at the data sheet, there is a large dip in frequency response in the 2K-8K region. When used with a tweeter/crossover it will work great as a mid-woofer. But don't try to use it as a full range driver.

I can see why this particular replacement woofer is in such great demand...and often in backorder. I ordered 4 of them for 4 small speakers I was upgrading. The perfect combination with 55-1055 soft dome tweeters and they sound awesome together. Well worth the wait and incredible price.

    • "A good little replacement woofer." by greyhnd on 12/15/2012
      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

Purchased 2 of these to upgrade a pair of tired home theater speakers. They dropped in the cabinet openings and have performed well. Hopefully after a bit of break-in time they will get even better. I'm still trying to get my crossovers adjusted to get the full potential out of them. Will be purchasing a couple more to finish the project. You'd be hard pressed to find a better value and performance for such a small investment.

    • "Sounds great, wish the frame was easier to work with" by patrickm on 12/31/2010
      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

Used this in the ZBM4 design with the Aura NT-1 tweeter, and like the results. Drawback is that the frame is thin and has tight clearances, making it more difficult to mount than it needs to be, so it lost 1 star in features for that.

I too am breathing life back into Koss M60 plus from the eighties. After 30 mins of listening I am ordering 4 more for my M90's. If heavy is good these babies are twice the weight of the originals. MCM other models sport more power handling capabilities but these jewels are excellant replacements for the Koss cabs and crossovers. WOW ,Sound and price....

    • "What a great woofer!" by Scanmaster on 11/7/2009
      Overall: 5 out of 5

I have three pairs of Koss Dynamite M100/plus self powered speaker systems made in the eighties and the foam woofers in two of these systems rotted out, so I needed replacement woofers. Each cabinet needed two woofers (total of four per system) and I chose these as a replacement. The result is astounding! These woofers produce a deeper, richer bass than the originals, with a higher SPL. The third system will need the woofers replaced soon and I will be ordering four more in the near future.

These little drivers are used in a Zaph Audio (search the internet) in a mini monitor with a mini tweeter from Madisound. I built a set and I was disappointed in amount of the output of the little monitor and designed an MTM design. All I can say is "Wow!" They are accurate, full, and clear as a bell. Zaph (internet name) is going to redesign the minimonitor to use a Dayton minitweeter. When he does, I am going to build at least two more of these for friends. These are great little drivers. For $13.00 a piece, they are one of the greatest deals in DIY.
