10" Woofer with paper cone and cloth surround-125w rms at 8ohm

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I bought a pair of these woofers as replacements for an old pair of Bose SA-500 speaker cabinets and they absolutely smoke the original woofers in sound and power handling. I also replaced the original tweeter with a 3 1/4 square piezo tweeter and substituted 4.7 uf capacitors instead of the original caps that came in the original cabinets. These new speakers sound amazing and I have been into stereo equipment all of my life...quite amazing actually. At higher volumes I find it is best to drop the midrange control on my vintage Kenwood KR-8010 receiver to -2 db's. More then impressed though, extremely happy with the price and quality of these woofers. Most of the speakers I have owned over the last 30 years never sounded this good.

    TS parameters not even close

    Overall: 3 out of 5

I bought two of these because the TS parameters indicated a good fit for some existing cabinets I had. After breaking them in for ten hours I measured Fs and Qt. Stated Fs was 38 HZ; Mine measured 65.5 and 60.1 Hz. Stated Qt was .38. I measured .95 and 1.00. I obviously can't use these and am sending them back. This is the second time I've received MCM audioselect drivers and had to send them back because of incorrect specs. The units seem to be well built; it's a shame we can't count on the published specs.

I have an old set of Wharfdale E50s that had already had the woofers replaced. Although there was nothing wrong with them, years of being exposed to cigarette smoke left them ugly (the mesh grills on the Wharfdales are see-through). These replacements sound fine, and make the speakers look much better. These woofers are slightly louder than the ones I pulled out, but match up well to the replacement mids and original tweeters in the cabinets. I would purchase these again.

Amazingly Good Drivers for the Money

    Overall: 5 out of 5
    Value:
    Quality:

I bought two of these woofers to replace the drivers in a pair of 2-way PA speakers, which I recently purchased. MCM was selling these drivers at a great price, so I couldn't pass them up. I'm using them for voice and guitar, with very pleasing results. The sound is very tight, and bass response is good. With large magnets for high power handling, I was almost tempted to use them instead for a 2-10" bass guitar cabinet. I bet they would be great in a properly engineered enclosure. Conclusion: If you need 10" drivers for any purpose, get these. At the price MCM sells them for, you can't go wrong.

    Very good buy!

I bought this woofer to replace my blown woofer on my kustom 10" monitor. The difference between this woofer and the old is night and day! The quality of this woofer is a lot better than the stock woofer. The paper cone is hard and sturdy. I'm definitely getting another one to replace my other monitor woofer.

    Excellent bass drivers

Replaced my tired old bass speakers in my JBL LX900 speaker boxes with these. The holes matched up perfectly so no hassles on the install. The magnets on these things are massive and I noticed they gause my old 36" tv picture tube from 3' away. They work great, in fact a huge improvement. They were innitially reluctant to produce but only took about a week to loosen up and now sound great at all levels of volume.

    THE JACK PARRISH BAND REVIEW

I ordered 2 of these to do an experiment on some monitors that I purchased MCM 555-10330 ( Floor Monitor ). The SPL on the monitor woofer was too low for my taste and replaced them with these and it was like night and day.... These things rock now..... I'll order some more in the future for a bass cab. Thnx MCM for a great product.

    good midbass speaker

    Overall: 5 out of 5
    Value:
    Quality:

I have bought 4 of these with two per speaker in a WMTMW configuration speaker. These being used as the W (woofer) on the bottom and top. The sound is of very good quality. The rated power is about right as I have a crown amp power the four with about 500watts rms. The sound is great. It's not ridiculously low. Just a good midbass sound. Great for most types of music. I have it tuned to the 38hz stated. I would suggest to get a driver to go lower or put out more xmax if more bass is desired. As is; this is a great sounding and very inexpensive driver. It is a great value. It is very comparable to eminence beta's, In fact, I actually prefer the mcms.

Great sounding speakers.. Designed a line array system using two 10" woofers in a ported configuration with a 2" driver on a waveguide for the high frequencies in each cabinet. Great low end response and very clear mids.. With a properly designed cabinet these speakers will definitely render great results.

Great as a sub driver in a PA / DJ application

I designed a three way system that uses this in it's own box and four 5 inch speakers 55-1595 in a three row, two column configuration, with titanium dome super tweeters in the top row. They really do the job of adding depth without being rediculously bass heavy (as in boomy). I found a vented sub enclosure that is tuned to 38 Hz and it will easily handle a medium sized hall when used with a decent full range speaker system for the top end. Although I haven't done so I think it would also work very well in a more typical 2-way system.
