    Very nice woofer

    Overall: 4 out of 5

Nothing fancy, obviously a vintage low end woofer replacement that may not be audiophile but sounds loads better than the late 70s and 80's low/mid-line Pioneer, Sony, Technics et al speakers. Your speaker box will finally have some weight to it and some actual low end.

Seem well made enough and who could argue at these prices???

Oh my golly, a decent little poly

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5

Like everyone mentions, these are OK for the money.. I've used these in all sorts of applications, be it folded horns, TRUE wall I.B. applications, open baffle, bandpass, and conventional enclosures... The specs are WAAAY off from what the mfg. provides, so I will recommend you measure T/S yourself if you're actually doing optimally tuned enclosure alignment, but you CAN just drop these into a sealed or ported enclosure for general replacements.... TERRIBLE in compression bass horns and bandpass..but, OK in other applications...
For the money- IMPOSSIBLE to beat.NO way these have response to 5KHz, or anything really usable below 45-50Hz, but they do sound surprisingly decent for a china import.Remember- for cheap hi-fi poly+silk tweeter=Hi-Fi on a budget!!!... BUY a DOZEN!!!!!

    Works well for open baffle

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I'm using four of these, two in each open baffle H-frame for a high-end system using a full range TB 8" driver for 60 Hz to 1500 Hz and an ESS Heil Motion Transformer 1500 Hz up. These low cost 10" drivers are operating from 20 Hz to 60 Hz EQ'ed with a miniDSP 2x4. The other drivers in this system are hundreds of dollars each whereas these are about $10/ea and yet they hold their own very well. They of course have limited output especially approaching 20 Hz due to the relatively shallow 10.5" depth H-frame but for my small apartment, they are plenty.

One of the four drivers arrived with a rubbing voice coil but MCM promptly replaced it. I have not measured distortion but the drivers are relatively quite and sound reasonably pure for such a low cost driver. A lot of woofers even some very expensive ones tend to be noisy. This is a good test if you have access to a low distortion tone generator, just put in a very low frequency tone 10 ~ 20 Hz and listen for noise. In an ideal driver you wouldn't hear anything.

The build quality on these is as expected for the price. Very thin stamped frame and even the connector tabs are so thin you have to crimp the quick disconnects slightly otherwise they're too loose. This isn't really a problem however. If you're going to use them very high in frequency (above a couple hundred HZ) the thin stamped frame problem could be overcome by mounting them by the magnet but if you're doing that advanced of a design you would probably be using better drivers.

These would probably work fairly well in a more conventional box speaker design but will still require EQ to get the most out of them. The miniDSP 2x4 with no box is around $85 plus shipping and is probably the best option for doing both system and room EQ for these. Use several of these in a sealed box with the EQ and you could have a very inexpensive subwoofer with very good performance.

Good general replacement - but don't expect low bass

    Overall: 4 out of 5

These speakers are a fantastic value for the money. They are great for reviving an old pair of speakers where the original woofers can't be refoamed or are damaged/missing. That was the case for me, as I was resurrecting a vintage pair of speakers where one of the original woofers were removed and lost. I must say these DO have a strong bass output, but they do not have extension to them. They are not compliant nor have the cone travel to be able to reproduce extended bass even with advanced tuning methods. About the lowest extension you are going to get will be in the 60Hz area, and that's with some roll-off. My advice, if you are reviving a decent pair of vintage speakers, these aren't the best driver for you. If you just want strong bass - I can't think of a better woofer for the money.

Perfect replacement bass speaker in spinet organs with sealed boxes

    Overall: 5 out of 5

Sure can't beat this one for the price. Some of the better Lowrey spinet organs from the 80's had a foam-surround 10" woofer in a sealed box or with a small port. We use this driver as a replacement and it sounds awesome. Has more bass punch than the figures suggest. I keep some in stock and don't worry if I run across an organ that came with a 4 ohm woofer, I just pop in one of these. The solid state amps don't mind at all if you use an 8 ohm driver, and the efficiency of this driver is high enough that the loss in amp output doesn't matter. Probably prolongs the life of the amp too. A great speaker at an incredibly low price.

    Overall: 2.5 out of 5

i got 4 of these for a bass guitar cab and i wasnt to impressed they worked better wired in parallel .when i ran from the send from my tko peavy amp into the 300 watt gk head it boosted the sound tremendously they will do for now if your gonna build a guitar or bass cab i would recomend getting speakers that are a little more expensive built for musical instruments i wish i would have bought two of the 12 in speakers they have on here for 25$ a piece ,but for 50$ they were a good addition if you only have a 3oo wattt head i would recomend a pre amp and you will get a better sound out of these inexpensive speakers, overall for the price im happy it only took about 4 days to get them during the holiday season i would say thats pretty good

I bought 4 of these and put them in some old Marantz boxes and OMG I was blown away and so were the neighbors... Outstanding bass response, BETTER than woofers costing 10 times as much... MCM has done it again... 10 out of 10...

    bass cannons

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I bought two of these 10's and have them mounted in a set of JBL L26 bass reflex cabinets mated to the 55-1080 1" soft dome via a Boston two-way crossover @2.7k. The bass response is outstanding. They sound better & better the more they get broken in. Been using them since October '10. For the money, they can't be beat!
