  I bought this speaker to replace a blown Black Widow. I have an EVM15B in an identical, sealed cabinet. Compared to the EVM15B, the EV is more efficient, with more happening in the high mids and low trebles. But the MCM can handle more power, and has a thicker, smoother low end. It will work great as a sub, and I'll likely put one in the EVM cabinet.

  These woofers are truly epic! In a 4 cubic foot enclosure with a slot loaded port, this woofer produced levels of bass I hadn't thought possible from a single, 8 ohm driver. Fed with 400w of clean power and some bass test tracks, my entire garage was vibrating, my garage doors shaking, things falling from shelves, all from a single driver! Truly amazed by the performance from such an inexpensive driver! Would work great as a PA subwoofer, or as a bottom cabinet for bass guitar under a 4x10 or some other midrange cab. This woofer does not produce midrange, though. Probably insufficient for 2-way use in a PA, and definitely insufficient on its own for a bass cab if you play any funk. That said, this speaker does one job, produces bass, and it does it well.
