.I purchased four of these to mess around with, and see what makes them tick...
They're a GREAT starting point to make some GREAT 15;'s, if (IF) you're willing to go to the extent that it takes..
... These frames, pole plates, large magnetic donuts and terminals are pretty decent quality, but frequency extension and fidelity are somewhat B grade due to the quality of the soft parts IMO....
I ran these hard in their as-delivered stock form, and wound up "enveloping" the cones around the perimeter, so I had them re-fabricated with the Hempopotamus hemp fiber cones, and heavier but more compliant surround materials.......
... After rebuilding with new soft parts, these were absolutely amazing. No cone break up/flexing with the HEMP-O cones, and fidelity that's almost 3D in presentation...VERY strong motors...
is this a sales pitch? somewhat... are these a great starting point? yep..It's worth the aggravation, if you want to wind up with UNBEATABLE 15" drivers....
.See the guys at HEMPO Speakers for conversions, an they'll blow your minds!!!

big speaker, but not as strong as i would like it

for low cost replacement speaker it is ok, however, the surround material is a little week, some good points are noted, the magnet is heavy, the frame is heavy but the draw back for me is the cone, and the cone surround material... improvements can be if the cone is heavier, and the cone surround of good rubber would be a vast improvement...

Your not going to find better woofers for the money any where else.

Although I haven't installed these woofers in the current design I have planned for them yet I can tell you just from opening the box and checking them out they are no joke. They have a lot in common with a supposedly better more popular brand we all know in the pro audio world with the two letter initials.........Look at the frame and whats the company that used that frame for years? Yea you know the one.

Im building two way trapezoid full range PA mains with these and I have no doubt that these are going to pound out more bass then I really need out of my top boxes :) Huge voice coil and through spider coil leads will ensure no wire slapping the cone or any potential damage at solder joints during operation. Ill be buying more ion the future!

Bought 2 for use in Altec 816 style horn-loaded cabinets in a biamped setup. VERY impressive sound. A bit on the inefficient side (98dB sensitivity) due to the mass of the excellent quality but heavy cone, not a problem in a horn loaded cabinet with a good amplifier. I use a 300W/ch amplifier and it's unbelievable how much sound comes out of a pair of these. Made for MCM by a well known and reputable manufacturer whose branded product is identical, but MUCH more expensive. These are a GREAT deal!

    great value

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

These subwoofers packed some punch for the size. I was considering 18 inch subs, but for now the 15s worked great. We used them for live performance outdoors and drove them with 450 watts. Strong cast frame with easy connections. May add 2 more later for some extra punch.

    In a PA subwoofer.

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I bought this speaker to replace a blown Black Widow. I have an EVM15B in an identical, sealed cabinet. Compared to the EVM15B, the EV is more efficient, with more happening in the high mids and low trebles. But the MCM can handle more power, and has a thicker, smoother low end. It will work great as a sub, and I'll likely put one in the EVM cabinet.

    Die-Cast frame, Die hard performance!

These woofers are truly epic! In a 4 cubic foot enclosure with a slot loaded port, this woofer produced levels of bass I hadn't thought possible from a single, 8 ohm driver. Fed with 400w of clean power and some bass test tracks, my entire garage was vibrating, my garage doors shaking, things falling from shelves, all from a single driver! Truly amazed by the performance from such an inexpensive driver! Would work great as a PA subwoofer, or as a bottom cabinet for bass guitar under a 4x10 or some other midrange cab. This woofer does not produce midrange, though. Probably insufficient for 2-way use in a PA, and definitely insufficient on its own for a bass cab if you play any funk. That said, this speaker does one job, produces bass, and it does it well.
