    Good value, surprising response

    Overall: 5 out of 5

Avoiding any reference to price, the pricing on these speakers combined with the favorable reviews prompted me to finally dive into a "someday" project to restore a 1950's era, Hammond Organ Co. tone cabinet. Needed eight. Yes, eight. I also needed to be well within the arbitrary $100 budget the marital unit had imposed. These did the trick. Expectations for these speakers were initially modest, at best. When those two boxes (each containing four well-packaged speakers) came through the front door, I was fully anticipating they'd contain little more than borderline junk. Color me very pleasantly surprised.

Insert sole grumble here: Speaker posts aren't labeled +/-. It's a pet peeve that's really not a big deal. Grumble grumble.

Don't be put off by the advertised 50 ~ 5KHz frequency response. The lows are punchy and these drivers competently handle the mids as well as the stuff approaching dog whistle territory without any audible complaint. No snap, crackle and pop when asked to hover at or beyond the posted bandwidth extremes. And this is a "free air" open-back setup that runs contrary to the suggested "ported or sealed enclosure" application. Likely shouldn't work as well as it does, but (shrug) these things somehow manage to carry the load. The low- and high-pass filters never made it out of the packaging. Not needed.

Fit and finish also exceeded expectations for a speaker that fetches the price of a Happy Meal. No real break-in required. They sounded fine out of the box. And, for whatever it's worth, they actually look very cool. They are now providing the guts for an admittedly quirky and somewhat daft 16-speaker family room audio system made possible by MCM's pricing on these puppies.

And kudos to MCM's tech and customer support. Both went the extra mile on this one.

    HUGE BANG for your buck!!!

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I purchased a pair of these speakers to replace some older ones that were falling apart because they were so old... So I did not have high expectations at all due to the very low price, but WOW! They are in an old JVC Zero 2 box and sound absolutely amazing. I had to drill a couple extra holes, but that was to be expected. I'm just shocked how well a speaker can sound for this price. I will definitely be looking for more shelf boxes to be able to purchase more of these and have some amazing sound. The box these are currently in are for a gift, and now I want some that sound like this. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has an older setup and is looking for a great sound for cheap. I will definitely be coming back for more once I find another box for myself!

    Good inexpensive replacement

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I replaced a blown sub-woofer with this. The base is not quite as crisp but fills in fine for my surround sound. Bought a repair kit for the blown speaker for twice the price of this replacement first and could not get it right. Should have look here first. Great service and pricing.

    Not bad for the price

    Overall: 3 out of 5

I bought four of these to test their usefulness in an open baffle. First off they work great; much better than anticipated. Considering their size and xmax they should be used in multiples (I'll be using four per side), but that's no problem given the super low price. They're quite to xmax with a 20Hz sine wave and make no weird noises during music playback. This really only matters for open baffle use. Overall they sound nice, have good output and usable excursion.

No for the bad: They were packaged rather poorly: I didn't even know the they made cardboard only about as thick as cardstock. And even though the boxes weren't damaged, two of the drivers were. The frames were dented and very warped when looking across the cone. On the plus side, the frame is so flimsy that bending it back is no problem. I realize that the price is bargain basement, but a little bit of care would be appreciated.
Also, the t/s specs on the website are pretty far off. Here are my measured specs using added mass: Fs 35, qms 6.5, qes 2.2, qts 1.6, vas 72L and spl 83.2@1W and 86.6@2.83V. Changes thing quite a bit if you're trying to design a box for them or using them to replace a blown woofer in an existing speaker. They were pretty consistent between them though.
Overall, I'd still consider them a great buy if they meet your needs.

    Was expecting chinease bullcrap.

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I ordered 4 of these to add a little thump to my current setup. I threw them in a lazily made box, broke them in with static for 2 days straight, and hooked them up. Damn they exceeded my expectations. They really thump for that measly $10 price tag! I currently have 2 per box, wired in series, each box being powered @ 90w rms. The best part is if i do push them to hard, which hasn't happened yet (nor do i expect it to), their only $10, so i can just order another one for close to nothing!

    Excellent Woofer Replacement

    Overall: 5 out of 5

Used these replacing some old 10" Realistic Woofers that were damaged. Perfect sound. They THUMP for the $, big time. Great inexpensive woofer. Really impressed. Just ordered four more.
