  Have used these with a couple of different tweeters, the latest was the MCM 53-1055, each with a pair of these woofers in an MTM arrangement. I simply cannot express my satisfaction with these drivers. They sound as great as look, and they look great. Smooth low end extension not expected from a 5" woofer, simple 12dB crossover at 3K, I am absolutely amazed. If charged double the price I paid, I would still be happy. You will not find a better value in 5" drivers, ANYWHERE.

  Built the ZMV5 2 way (Zaph Audio). I am extremely pleased in the value and the quality of the speakers. I checked them with WT3 woofer tester and both tested after burn in as advertised indicating high quality control. These speakers are keepers! My son wants to build a set now.

  An extremely capable woofer for the price. I've built the ZMV5, and am so happy with the 55-3870 that I am designing a larger MTM version.   For a period in the 1990's I purchased many drivers from MCM for experimentation in my then hobby loudspeaker business. This little woofer is perfect for a moderate-powered system. The bass is tremendous for its' size! I used an 11.76 liter box that measured: I.D.= 6"w. X 8.5"d. X 14 1/8"h. with a 1 1/2"dia. X 3 3/16"long port for an F3 of 44 Hz.; that's right...44 Hz! You'd be hard-pressed to find ANY 5" woofer that will go that low! Midrange is very neutral to about 2,500 Hz and becomes a little shrill above that point, however.
