8'' Two Way PA / DJ Speaker 300W

      Overall: 5 out of 5

Sounds really good. Just don't use a 300watt amp on it and it will last I have two pairs of these. I only use a 200w per channel amp on them and they sound good.

      Great Product, Great price

      Overall: 5 out of 5

I ordered two of these to use as garage speakers along with the 18" MCM sub Part #555-10325. My review is a little skewed because when I was breaking in the woofers with a sine wave generator at 25Hz, I got the volume too loud on my Yamaha 500 watt amp and smoke both 8" woofers. I just didn't realize how much power they were taking because the woofers never complained by popping or bottoming out. I ordered replacement 8" woofers from MCM, which I immediately installed and broke in (at a lesser volume - haha). This isn't a high-dollar speaker, and I never expected it to sound like a $1000 dollar set, but it does the job very well. It blends fine with my sub in the garage, and I get plenty of volume from my garage sound system when I'm working in the front yard. I doubt I would do a dance with this system, but maybe...

      Great Value!

      Overall: 5 out of 5

I bought these for my chili cookoff sound system. I tested them with my home theater amp and they sounded great. For the cookoff my son ran sound directly from my laptop to a 200 watt Carver amp to the sub with outs to the MCM 8" speakers. I brought along my home theater powered sub for bottom since it was outdoors. They ARE only 8" woofers after all. The sound just blew me away. Plenty of volume with no distortion even wide open. Killer price and killer performance. I'll be looking at some travel subs soon to match.

      Great Value in Compact Speakers

      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I purchased a pair of these for quick set up events or a party in my backyard. I expected them to be fine for voice or pop music, but I was very surprised to find that they reproduced jazz piano tracks very faithfully. They provide quite clear and natural mid range. With 8" woofers they are a little light on the low end, but if you bump up the lower band on your EQ you will be quite surprised at how good these sound at mid volume levels. They are light and compact and at these prices, I think anyone would find them useful even if you own higher end speakers.

      Can't Beat them On Sale

      Overall: 4 out of 5

First of all, I got these on sale for less than the MSRP. They normally go for a bit more than what I paid. For the price I paid, I really can't complain. They are decently built, I don't see them falling apart any time soon. To the untrained eye, they look like professional speakers. The only people who would know they are cheap are other DJ's or sound professionals. They are very light and portable... much easier to transport than my 65lb Yamaha Club 15's. Sadly, I can't say they sound as good, but that should be obvious. As far as the sound quality ... well, they ARE in the $25-40 price range. They aren't going to sound like JBL's or EV's. The clarity and reproduction is good, but not great. Really though, they don't sound "bad." I should note that I power them using a good amp-- Crown XLS1500 -- so that might help. The high end is a bit harsh, and they have 8" woofers so the low end will need the help of a sub if you plan to play rap/hip-hop or electronic dance music. They would do the job by themselves for a wedding ceremony with classical or light music where low-end is not critical. That's one thing I use them for; I set these up at the ceremony and have my main gear set up and waiting at the reception location, if they are in two different places. They're also great for house parties where people will be drinking and there is a high likelihood of damage. They also worked great for me at a tailgate a couple weekends ago. As someone on an earlier review said... you can't BUILD them this cheap. For a backup set as a professional DJ on a budget, or as a decent backyard BBQ/house party set for personal use... go for it!

8 inch Two Way PA/DJ Speaker Cabinet

      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

The 8 inch PA speaker cabinet is excellent. I use a 60 watt PA amplifier, with speakers on tripods, to play keyboard for parties and shows. For very small events, I wanted a compact, easy to carry, 8 inch PA speaker that could be mounted on a tripod. This MCM Custom Sound cabinet is perfect for my uses. It has all the hardware that I need, is well made, and looks good. I question the 300 watt peak specification because I found it easy to overload the woofer. I swapped out the woofer with an MCM #55-2960 8” woofer. It was easy to remove the grill cover and make this change. The sound performance is now what I was looking for. I recommend this product.

Suprisingly good sound for a small cabinet! Bought these for background music in our shop, but after hearing them, added them to our rental fleet. Received great reviews from our customers. (ordered another pair for the shop!)

Add something like the Driverack from DBX and a couple of subs and they actually sound pretty darned good. You can't make it yourself for this price. I've pushed 'em hard and they keep coming back for more.
