well we ordered 4 cause you cant beat the price for a sub snake, we sent back 3, all interment, the good news is MCM rocks and if it doesnt work they take it back, I dont want to be deceptive by saying its a great value, cause they didnt work, but a 50' 8 ch sub snake for this price that works would be an incredible value

The snake is worth every penny.
However, you do get what you pay for .... If used in a studio or permanent installation, I could see this working out very well. Mine is used on the road ( it is transported safely in its padded case) but after a few shows, the cheap chinese XLR stage box inputs became very sloppy ( loose contacts) and were unreliable. So I ordered Neutrik replacements and replaced each connector. It still worked out much cheaper than purchasing one with Neutriks already installed and although I realize that the design and cable is still of inferior quality, my solder job did the trick ! The cords all fit nice and snug now and I have not had one issue since the repair....
The fan end connectors all work well.
I have noticed no degradation in sound quality using this.
I would buy another one and solder in replacement higher end connectors right away.

    Good for permanent install

    Overall: 3 out of 5

I ordered 2 of these for use in our gigging band. The price is right but the size of the box and the weight was a little more than I wanted to deal with.

The cable re-enforcement on the box side is pastic and will help some but with a box being moved around, rolled and unrolled I needed more.

Did not hook them up so I can't say anything about the sound quality. Also the cable is 5/8" inch thick so pretty thick for a 12 channel box.

These should work fine in a permanent install

    poor quality

    Overall: 1 out of 5

This is not a well made snake. A snake is not the place to cut corners on quality. Since it is the link between the stage and FOH, it doesn't matter how good the rest of the gear is if the snake is unreliable. The same is truue for recording work.
The stage box is very solid with a decent strain relief for the cable. The connectors are typical low cost Chinese with poor dimensional tolerances., requiring some force to plug and unplug. They are acceptable, just not Neutrik quality. The problem with this snake is the wire and the soldering. The wire appears to be 28, not 26 gage. The shield is spiral wrapped with sparse coverage. This is a problem if there is Radio Frequency interference. The worst part is the shield solder joints were full of green corrosion. It appears acid flux solder was used. This makes the snake unacceptable.

    Nice value

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

You will be hard-pressed to find a better deal on a snake like this, anywhere. Nice construction, over all, with the exception of the XLR fan. The Connectors used there are not likely to be durable if they are exposed to much strain. This would be just fine for a permanent installation, or a mobile setup, if the fan end is used very carefully, with little or no strain on the wires.

    Great product for the price!

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

This was purchased for our home studio as a "fixed" installation. So far I have been very pleased. Having used "professional brand" snakes in the past, I was somewhat concerned the Stellar Labs unit would induce noise. But, having used both microphones and a guitar (with DI box) with this snake the performance has been great. The XLR connectors are not Switchcraft or Neutrik but they seem to work fine. Great product for the price! BTW, the product description says " Cable thickness: 3/8” ", the 12-channel cable is actually just shy of 3/4" in diameter.
