    Functional, LIGHT DUTY case.

    Overall: 4 out of 5

As described, used for light duty and LIGHT WEIGHT equipment. Not big heavy stuff. No metal rack ears but you can use drywall screws with nylon washers to mount equipment into the unit. If your rack equipment has bolt heads sticking out of the sides, you will have to remove a small bit of the wood ears to get your piece in. Still, seeing that this unit sells for over twice the MCM price elsewhere, the unit could not be built in parts or TIME for the MCM price AND it is extremely functional, I'd recommend it for LIGHT DUTY applications. It's CHEAP and it WORKS. I feel like I got more than I paid for with this so I bought 4 more!

    Great Amp rack

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I put two of my Crown XLS1000 amplifiers in these racks. (I have another one with two XLS2000 amplifiers, too) The only thing I didn't like was, that instead of metal rack ears, it has wood sides for mounting your components / devices onto. If these Crown amps were the old school MT1200 series, their weight wood tear out the wood sides. So, be careful what you decide to mount in them.

JUNK!! Worst example of a rack case I've ever seen!

    Overall: 1.5 out of 5

First.. a rack case SHOULD have metal rack ears! NOT blocks of wood on the sides so that you would have to use wood screws to attach gear. Second, the blocks of wood (their idea of rack ears) are just thick enough that standard gear simply won't slide down into the box unless you shave the wood (creating a wider gap) or remove the screws from the sides of the equipment. I've never seen such a poorly designed rack... ever! It's too bad because the material is decent.. the rubber feet, corner bumpers and handle aren't bad. It looks decent but just is terribly poor in design.

    You will be SURPRISED!

    Overall: 3 out of 5

Rack looks good.and at first seems pretty solid. The SURPRISE comes when you can"t fit your rack mount gear into it! The unit is not quite wide enough. I got out the saws all and cut out a small block of the mounting wood and managed to squeeze the equipment in. Also it's a very tight "4 space" fit. Cheap enough, but you will be doing a little work. I would purchase this again if needed.

    Great build!

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

The pictures are exactly what you get. It is built very well and by the way, there is only one handle.

    No mounting hardware

    Overall: 2 out of 5

The photos do not show that this item is incomplete and cannot be used as it is.

I was not pleased to find only two blocks of wood where I expected to find a drilled angle stock for rack mounting screws.

So I now have to order two, 2U rack rails, and the hardware to mount them to the wood to make this product useable.

You'll probably have to adjust the size

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I have two applications for this. This excels at the first application, which is to cover a knot of wires and connectors on the floor under the first pew for sound and video gear that we sometimes place in the first pew. This is solid, well-constructed and discreet. Since we're just just stuffing everything inside it, the opening sizes do not matter.

The second application was to actually mount rack equipment in the sleeve. Here are some things you need to know:
    1. no screw racks. You will need to pick up wood screws to drill into the wood strips at the sides. Regular mounting screws will not work.
    2. The opening, at least on the two I've received, was not wide enough for the rack mount amps and other equipment I was placing in them. I used a rip saw and shaved down the inside edges to make them wider. Be ready to do some work on these if you want to mount equipment.
    3. Height - not quite 4U. Unless the construction of the unit changes, you will only be able to place 3U of equipment in these. Fortunately for what we had to mount, we were able to get by with only 3U in each.
    4. Weight - this is wood. With equipment in it, it is heavy. If this is equipment you won't move much, you'll do fine. Just don't plan on using this monster to haul gear into and out of gigs unless you're doing it as part of your strength training program. MCM has some flight cases that are very reasonably priced and I would recommend (having purchased some) instead of using this one to haul equipment.

Bottom line: if you're using this to hide or protect non-rack mount equipment that you won't move much, this is an incredibly good deal. If you have rack mount equipment, and are willing to work with and around these limitations, you will be pleased.

It's rather vague in the description. "Wooden mounting blocks (screws required)". I was blinded by the amazing cheap price. Be advised, there are NO RACK RAILS for this product. Which goes against the description "and a professional appearance." I've never seen a professional rack without rails, and I've been doing sound for 20+ years. ... ... ... It also says "will protect your gear while providing easy transport". Be advised, it does not come with lids. Which, to be honest, I wasn't expecting or needing. But, I would not want to transport equipment without lids. As a sleeve, it would slide into a custom ATA case. That's fine. The ATA case would have the lids. But as a stand alone, no. I would not use this to transport equipment. ... ... ... I would suggest ordering a pair of part number 555-13220, which are 4ru rails. That description says "Rails" plural, but customer support confirmed that it is only one rail per order. ... ... ... For an extra $5, they could make this a great little, inexpensive rack. Alas. It's not quite that. ... ... ... All that said, it does look pretty. This is for our new FOH. We needed a small rack on top for the Galileo. And any misc things that a particular show might want to add. So, should be fine. But wanted to warn the next buyer that it has no rack rails. ... So, now I am waiting on rack rails. When they arrive, hopefully they will go in easy. At $25, it's not worth the hassle to ship it back.

    2U Rack Sleeve.

    Overall: 3 out of 5

Unit was exactly what I needed for a Pyle Pro 1000 Watt amplifier. Tight fit - OK. You need wood screws to secure your unit as the sleeve has wood rails. No problem though.

    Wooden 2U rack

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5

Like the 4U model the wooden rack ears are too big which means you will either have to cut them back or do like I did and pop them off and replace with metal rack ears that you can buy here as well. Perfect fit after that and still a bargain. Fit and finish is very good.

Too small - in two directions!

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5

When I got this case, I was impressed with the build quality and overall appearance. And when I first put my new 2U amp into it, I thought all was well. But when I went to add the two 1U blank faceplates (for future expansion) I found that the front opening is 1/8 inch too narrow - as the previous reviewer said - and that the total opening *height* is about the same amount too small! It's not a 4U rack, it's a 3.95U rack! :-( And this is going to be harder to fix than the left-to-right issue, because I can't just shave some off the side rails. I'm hoping that removing the carpeting will do the trick. (That might even be the entire *cause* of the problem: they continued the carpeting from the outside of the case, inside, and I think that's taking up just a tad too much room.) If it weren't for that, I'd rate this thing perfect! And for the price, I'm willing to do a little mod work myself. (Well, one more quibble - although it IS clearly noted here in the product description, but this case does not have rails, as such - it has two wooden bars on either side of the opening, that you have to drill holes into and put your screws into. Really? What, am I supposed to use wood screws?! I think I may try to remove these wood "rails" and install some proper metal ones.)

    1/4-inch too small of opening

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5
    Top 25 Contributor

Excellent build quality, nice corner guards and rubber feet. Except, I went to put my amplifier into this "Rack Sleeve" and it is too wide to fit between the wood rails. My amplifier was 17.5in wide and the opening between the wood rack rails is 17.25in. I'll be modifying with a jig saw in lieu of sending back. It's a great inexpensive rack, just make sure your gear will fit.
