    ADJ Vs. Pulse

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5
    Value:
    Quality:

I have 2 of these lights made by Pulse and 4 of the ADJ Mega Par Profile, so my review will be comparing these head-to-head based on a score from 1-10

Round 1-Value: When purchased individually from MCM, the Pulse lights are $20 cheaper (with the right source code). However, if you buy the ADJ Mega Flat Pak, it comes with 4 lights, DMX cables & safety wire plus a padded duffel bag with partitions for each light making it a better value…depending on your needs. Round 1 is a draw & both get 10 points each

Round 2- Construction: Plastic housing on ADJ. Metal for Pulse. ADJ are smaller & more compact. Pulse is larger & heavier, but construction is more robust. Slight edge for the Pulse because they feel more durable. 10-9.

Round 3-Features: ADJ buttons are larger & have a better detent (feel) than the Pulse's. However, since the buttons on the ADJ are on the flat bottom part of the housing, placing them on carpet will sometimes accidently press one of the buttons changing your settings. The Pulse's buttons are located where they cannot be accidently pressed, but are very small & too close together. If you have large fingers, it can be frustrating to operate. Pulse lights give you a standard female receptacle which makes it easy to daisy chain several light together. With the ADJ’s, you need special wires with an IEC male on 1 end and female IEC on the other to daisy chain. Since it is a major inconvenience having to buy extra wires that arguably should be included, Pulse wins the third round 10-8.

Round 4-Menu/Display: Both units use characters very similar to what you would see on a digital alarm clock and operate in a very similar fashion. The ADJ’s display is easier to read because it’s larger and the characters are easier to decipher, so it wins this round 10-9.

    Final scorecard: Pulse wins 39-36.

These lights are awesome. I purchased eight of them and have them four to a t-bar stand. they were easily daisy chained and connected to power. I use the Chauvet Obey70 controller and they work flawlessly. I have had these lights run both on DMX and sound-active modes. I will be ordering eight more for event uplighting. Best buy for the dollar I think. I have used many of the products out there and I hesitantly switched over to theses, but now I have no regrets with this buy.

Best lights you can get for the money!

I bought 2 of these initially & then needed white lights. I didn't realize these had a white light setting. They are not as white as a normal white light, but if you need white uplights they will do! They are very bright & perfect for transport (compact). I bought 6 more!

    Good "slim" LED light

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5
    Value:
    Quality:

I am a mobile DJ that specializes in weddings and purchased these to add to my "dance floor" lighting.
I've used them all season with great results. I bought them on special at the end of 2013 and were on back order
    until ~Jan.

IMHO these are pretty close to the major two competitors (A.. & Cha...) when comparing to 10mm LED's. The color mixing is pretty smooth throughout the spectrum. I have gotten into the habit of utilizing "filters" on all of my LED's
and have utilized a double layer of Press & Seal on the lens to diffuse these for a greater wash. IMHO the stated beam angle seems a bit higher than actual . . . so the diffusing filters help with this.

So far after close to a year of use the fixtures still functions as it's suppose to. I have, however had an issue with one
of the lights dropping it's DMX address from time to time. To be fair, I may have (but don't think I did) bumped the fixture when adjusting the light. Generally it wants to do this between events, but once re-programmed it stays set for the night.

Pros: Nice LCD setup screen and buttons, Bright, Edison 3-prong power pass thru for daisy chaining lights. Case and construction are solid.

Cons: partial gray case - no biggie, more of an aesthetic, dropping DMX address (could be operator error but don't think so). The adjustable yoke is not the most flexible, but if it's fully open or closed you're good to go.

In the end, I would feel comfortable in purchasing more if found on special.

    Great low profile light

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I have several other PAR56 lights and use them in shows. The biggest issues is storage when traveling. These are low profile and hoping to leave on the T-bars and store to save setup time.

They throw a light that is more of a spot light than a flood which is cool as well since I use them behind us on the stage.

Prior to seeing these on MCM's website, I had never heard of Pulse. I'm now the happy owner of over a dozen of these lights, and the Slimlight Pro56 (also available from MCM). These lights are well built, have a loop-through 120v plug (allowing you to daisy-chain additional lights without having to have a power strip with multiple outlets), and are very easy to set up. I use a computer-based DMX lighting program to control them, and everything works perfectly! Very bright, even brighter than some other brand Par56 lights that I have used side-by-side. Way to go MCM! Pulse also makes flightcases for these lights, hopefully MCM will start carrying them soon. (hint hint)

Great LED Par... Best bang for the buck!

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I bought 4 of these just to see what they can do. They are every bit as good as the more expensive LED pars. Planning on getting about 8 more soon for bigger stages. I do live audio for bands and they have been asking for lighting and these did the trick! No complaints and they all think they look great. Our church also bought a bunch and the project pretty far. They're ceiling mounted and reach the floor with plenty of brightness. Digital display is also a plus!
