  As mentioned, this is a small meter with the probes hard wired. That's good enough for me for travel use. Since this meter isn't that expensive, it won't be the end of the world if something bad happens to it. Be sure to read the PDF manual listed on the side. The use of the function keys will become apparent. The protector case it comes in is kinda mediocre and prone to tearing. It doesn't do so well measuring capacitors in the pF range, but I guess that shouldn't be too surprising. I really like that this uses a generic button cell battery that is easily obtainable when out and about. I nixed many other meters in my selection for using a custom battery that was hard to get and over priced.

  Easy to read with ranges and settings for everything. Really thin - you can figure things out without having the manual (though I would read it through once since it has MANY settings). I use cut-off heat shrink to keep the sharp probe ends from doing something I don't want, and put a screen protector on the display, and it is in my pocket now. I always have to check something - continuity, voltage, whatever, and this way I always have a very capable meter with me. The battery is easily replaceable, which brings me to the only flaw I've encountered - in my pocket sometimes the dial can be pushed to an "on" position which will drain the battery. The switch could be stiffer, but I think I solved it by putting it in a different case (the original one is thick to contain the manual which is thicker than the meter itself). Some blog had an entry for "best compact inexpensive multimeter", and I commented pointing to this in the comments - it was better than their picks.
