Convenient Combination of DMM and Basic Scope and Logging

      Overall: 3.5 out of 5

This is a cost-effective combination of DMM and basic oscilloscope and measurement logging functions. The controls are pretty intuitive and didn't take long to learn. The software that came with it just plain wouldn't work on a couple of my PCs, be sure to get the version 3 download instead. It's a bit thicker than I'd like and the carrying case could be better. Its worst aspect is poor display contrast.

      Pretty good for the money.

This meter functions well and accurately. They need to work on their translation though. The following is an actual excerpt from the computer interface software manual. "If what to use is multimeter the USB provide with the form connect a people's line, the USB pick up a people line of red unauthorized biography lose the line to receive to carry to insert multimeter fix in the slot with a back of the form protection, then go on-line of another on carry with computer of string a right conjunction is then." I haven't got a clue what it means....

It is incredibly frustrating to say the least when you waste two hours of your life trying to find the software for this unit online. You come to MCM's page, and you see a download link. Finally, you think, you've found it. But the link never works! Besides that, I have no complaints about the unit in particular, just complaining about the lack of something as simple as an online software download... MCM, if you see this, I would really appreciate if you could follow up on this!

      Disapointed with operation

      Overall: 2.5 out of 5

While I agree with the two other reviewers on this scope-meter it has a serious technical flaw in that the scope function is not truly AC coupled and it is not possible to make millivolt measurement of AC ripple voltage on the output of a power supply or voltage buss as you would with a regular oscilloscope.

      Affordable Scope-Meter

      Overall: 5 out of 5

The Tenma 72-8400 - Hand-held 8MHz Oscilloscope w/Digital Multimeter DMM is one of the most versatile meters I have owned. It allows quick and accurate DC readings while observing any noise on the power supply lines. I recently was troubleshooting a distortion problem in a digital organ and almost immediately found a noisy square wave clock pulse. This is now my main DMM on any job.

pretty darn good for the money

      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I would not say this is the most sophisticated scope I have used, but for the money, you wont find anything that comes close. In fact, I would say you wont find anything close for near double the price. The manual is good, but if you have any experience using a scope, you wont need it. The controls are intuitive enough to take this out of the box and use. Display quality, overall solid feel, nice case, good accuracy, what else can I say. This is a great find.
