I bought this to hopefully copy old VHS tapes to DVD. Some of the tapes were very jumpy and some slightly. I have hooked up just from the dvd to tv with this in the middle and made 0 ZERO difference! Don't waste your money.

I wanted to transfer some commercially produced VHS tapes that I own to digital media. I was using my DV camera to convert the signal to Firewire, but received the message "COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL - DUBBING PROHIBITED." When placed between my VCR and DV Camera, this device removed the Macrovision signal that was preventing the digitizing of the video signal. It's also difficult to see from the pictures shown, but this does have a 9VDC power receptacle. The documentation claims a 9V battery will have a useful life of over 2,000 hours and turns itself off if no signal is present.

I purchased the video stabilizer to correct a problem copying TV shows I recorded in the 1990's from VHS tapes to DVDs. My DVD recorder felt there was copy protection on the tapes. Someone at a video forum said I was experiencing "false macrovision" and suggested I purchase this stabilizer. It has worked great. I've been able to copy all of my VHS tapes to DVDs. In addition, I've used it to copy 15-20 purchased VHS tapes to DVDs without any problems. I know there are more expensive video stabilizers that have more features, but I would start with this one. I highly recommend it!!

I ordered this over the weekend and it arrived on Tuesday. I hooked it up between a VCR and a DVR with a DVD burner and it worked perfectly the first time. Now I will be able to convert my old tapes and the picture looks great! Glad I didn't buy one of the more expensive models that I saw elsewhere.

Ordered and received in timely manner. Unit just didn't do what I wanted. It didn't do anything. In or out of the circuit. Didn't make it better or worst. I called for an RMA and it is on the way back. Service from MCM was great.

Product works great. Will allow you to backup old VHS tapes to DVD. MCM has the best price where elsewhere the price is 3 times greater and higher.

Easy order process and quick shipping. Unit works as advertised. Initially there was quite a bit of "strobing" passing through. I elected to adjust the small POT on the PCB, and was able to minimize these "flashes". For information, there is an access hole on the bottom of the unit for the POT. Very much worth the money for anyone trying to transfer their old VHS library to DVD. My setup: Toshiba VHS/DVD player to Mag. HD/DVD DVR

This unit won't allow recordings to be made off shows available off cable television (AT&T) if they are encoded as such to not allow recordings.

I've bought dozens of these Stabilizers as gifts, and for the recipients then to give as gifts. It's the perfect, cost-effective choice for anyone with a large commercial VHS collection and too little space. Not one person has told me of any problem so far. I've copied over 100 VHS tapes to DVD with no errors, and at least half of them look better than the source tape. The stabilizer takes up almost no room, powers on only when a video signal passes through it, and does its job of blocking the Macrovision layer. It works silently, and without generating any heat. It's handy even if you only play VHS tapes; it improves the on-screen video, smoothing out many effects of age, stretch, and wear. Highly recommended, especially at this price.

I was having trouble capturing my friends wedding video (VHS) to my computer so i can make a DVD for their anniversary but the video kept jumping around. When i hooked this up the video was stable and looked as if i was watching it on a TV screen. Great product for the price.
