  It cam ready to go out of the box. I just had to install the cameras. the resolution is adequate as I am not filming a great masterpiece, but still very good for identification. It does its job and it does its job well. It comes with everything you need except for tools. I only needed to buy on extra camera cable because of my choice of placement. My only real complaint is its cooling fan is very noisy, so you can't just hook it up to your entertainment center, or you will be very annoyed.
