  • "Raspberry Pi enhanced bundle" by terryephillips on 6/14/2013
    Overall: 5 out of 5

Very pleased with this bundle. Everything worked out of the box. Did have a minor problem with the 5V supply, as it was missing in the initial shipping. When I called MCM, the representative was quite responsive and mailed a replacement in short order.

  • "Great Bundle, but the Case is a little weird... It's Huge!" by mikeklingler on 1/30/2013
    Overall: 5 out of 5

I purchased three of these bundles. Everything is great, ... Well, okay, there was one thing... the case is huge and doesn't really fit the Raspberry Pi very well, but other than that, the bundle is GREAT! If you purchase one of these, make sure to get the settings right in Rasp-Config for the Keyboard. If you don't the key mapping will not be right for some characters. In Rasp-Config, be sure to select the following options for Keyboard Configuration: Select Configure Keyboard, next select "Generic 104 - Key PC", next scroll down and select "Other" when it shows all the UK Keyboards, next scroll down one and select: "English (US)", next scroll all the way to the top and select: "English (US)" again, next press enter to select the default options for each of the rest of the settings. After you have responded to all of the settings, you will be brought back to the main menu, if you are finished with all of your configurations, then select "Finish". Next, RESTART THE RASPBERRY PI (the Raspberry Pi will not operate on your new settings until you do.). This information was provided by MCM Tech Support which responded quickly to my request and was very helpful!!!!! Thanks, MCM Electronics for a great bundle at a great price and for GREAT support!!!!!! (MCM... It would be nice if the proper keyboard configuration to use in Raspberry Pi configuration for the keyboard were provided in documentation accompanying your bundles.... Just a thought! :-)

  • "Windows" by thwippboy on 10/20/2012

I have not bought this but I have used it before. Is there anyway I could make this run Windows instead of Linux?

Received package very fast, all product was there and packaged well. I will order again from them.

  • "When MCM Electronics says the item is "in stock", don't believe them" by servette on 8/30/2012
    Overall: 3 out of 5

I ordered this bundle because the MCM Electronics web site showed that it was "in stock". It arrived today. Well, part of it arrived, anyway. I received the case, power supply, OS and mouse. Missing (and reported "backordered" on the packing list) were the Raspberry Pi board and the keyboard. They were not listed as "shipped separately", rather they were listed as "backordered" with no indication of expected delivery date given. Will I receive those missing parts tomorrow or in a month or two? No idea. But it is just plain wrong and deceptive for MCM Electronics to claim that the bundle was "in stock" when they clearly it was not.

  • "Convenient bundle but R-Pi would not boot w/supplied keyboard" by cfcubed on 8/22/2012
    Overall: 4 out of 5

Hooked things in this bundle up, first w/keyboard & mouse direct then through powered hub, but Raspberry Pi would not boot (Oops/Entering kdb error). Got it going w/a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard I'd around. Bundled $7 keyboard itself works OK on a WinXP box, so it may be a R-Pi/shipped Rasbian (default/initial) incompatibility w/keyboard. Won't cry over having this spare cheap keyboard around but a disappointing out-of-the-box experience. Wonder if MCM tested this bundle before offering it for sale. Will be curious if everyone getting this bundle has this problem.

  • "Everything you need to start, but could be better" by toddkrein on 8/22/2012
    Overall: 4 out of 5

The kit contains everything that you need to get started with the Pi, so in that regard, it's great. One stop shopping. There are a couple of issues with the set-up, though: For me, the keyboard is way too big. Since this is a second machine on my desk, a smaller keyboard, perhaps w/o a dedicated number pad, would have been a better choice. The pieces came in several different shipments, arriving on different days. Would have been fine if I had know that the rest of the pieces were coming, but it's like getting half a voucher for christmas. Lastly, the case is a complete piece of crap. The only good thing I can say about it is that it keeps the board off my lab bench. Inserting any cable causes it to pop out of the flimsy holder. It's huge, but most of the space is completely wasted. It's hard to get at the connectors when it's in the case. It's easy to break the stand-offs and the latching pins. Go but the case from AdaFruit instead.
