    Decent, could use design improvements

    Overall: 2.5 out of 5
    Value:
    Quality:

The case comes as standard in the starter pack box I purchased. Value for money is OK, there are better designed cases out there, but this will do the job as far as allowing some basic circuit protection while handling your pi2.

That said it's a cheap case and it shows. The snap on mechanism is decently designed, unfortunately it's still too weak and the case will pop open if you handle it in certain ways (where you'd squeeze some parts, and if it falls on the floor. To add at least a small screw to secure it and keep the case firmly assembles (especially in case of falls) would be the first improvement I'd add.

    Pros:
    - easy to open (though there are cases when that's undesired)
    - not too expensive (but still more than it's worth)
    - will protect the pi just OK
    - ready for camera module
    - vented area below the RAM chip
    - can be wall-mounted
A note on that: the description improperly states "vertically mounted"... should say could be wall-mounted since there won't be any "vertically" unless mounted on a wall. Can't have it stand vertically on its own (could have if designed differently) as the only sides without (including the one with the microSD slot have been designed as rounded rather than flat. The case seems to have been designed to be comfortable while holing it in hand, though it that will be rarely the situation... so perhaps should've been designed differently.

    Cons:
    - no acrylic/optical pathway to bring the led indicators to one of the Pi's sides
    - will pop open too easily (need to add a securing screw in future designs)
    - still to expensive for an injection-molded piece of plastic that isn't all that complex after all
    - all opening making the case "ready" for optional add-ons should have a rubber cap insertable from the inside and staying firmly in place to prevent moisture/liquid spills from getting into the case through those openings
    - ventilation/cooling of CPU could be improved by providing a self adhesive heatsink adding just a few cents! I'd strongly advise to add a ram heatsink on the CPU as it gets extremely hot!
    - the case should have a more practical design when it comes to the overall shape. The design is slightly rounded and that makes sense for something designed to keep it a the user's hand. This case will most likely be mounted somewhere or stacked with other hardware or other pi units, so a more modular, stackable, geometrical shape would've been highly preferable (can still round sharp corners but all sides should be flat rather than rounded.

    Great case for the B++

    Overall: 4 out of 5

I own several Raspberry Pi Model B's and the case (MCM Part #: 83-14473) for those B boards and have been very pleased with them. That case did set my expectation level for this new case.

When I acquired my first Raspberry Pi Model B+ I purchased this enclosure, hoping it would be of the same quality and I was not disappointed. It took a bit of patience to open the case and get the Pi seated properly. When I finally got it together, I wasn't able to easily insert the micro SD card, as it required more digital dexterity than I could muster. As I was anxious to try out my B+, I reopened the case (which is a tight fit and took a bit of doing) and inserted the micro SD card before putting the board back into the case. However, being concerned about the fit and not wanting to damage the card, I did widen the opening for the card with a knife to ensure it cleared the opening.

I really like the rubber feet provided, but miss the security of having the four screws that came with the 83-14473 case. However, the tight fit makes the screws unnecessary and since I do not plan to add anything else to the board, I now have a nice case around my B+ board --- that for my purposes, I have no immediate plans to reopen. All in all, I am very pleased with the case as it is great case at a reasonable price.

    An excellent case

This case surprised me with its simplicity. It had (not advertised) a mounting for the Pi Camera which fits perfectly. It also has slots for a GPIO extender and both the camera ribbon (for external mount) and the display ribbon. It is the smallest Pi case to date (due to the B+ not having projecting connectors).

Overall, an excellent case for projects that don't require add on boards. My only criticism is that it can pop open a little too easily.

Decent 1st case for the B+

    Overall: 4 out of 5

When I ordered this case, I figured it was going to be somewhat cheaply made. To my surprise it wasn't! It was actually very well made. The case also comes with the camera mounting screws and rubber feet which was a nice touch. The board fits nice and snug and everything lines up perfectly.

The only problems with this case I can see is that when you finally close the top on the bottom, it's a bit hard to get the case back open. Also I wish they made this case without the camera mount and just put vent holes in the top. I use these for media centers and will never use a camera in them.

I like them so much that I've bought nine so far..
