  I use these to plug in a guitar, which give a balance line out, I then route to a micpreamp and then to the channel strip on my console and then to my Alesis ADAT HD24 Hard drive recorder. Yields great sound quality!

  This is a well designed, and yes, (well built in China) active DI box that runs off a 9V battery or +48V phantom. Missing is a wall wart DC input. Unit is quiet and has BAL IN and OUT as well as UNBAL IN 3 STEP ATT and a GROUND LIFT as well as MONO LINK LED blinks with good battery and stays solid with phantom. A good value to use as an RCA to XLR interface (with adapters)
