  Good meter that us old timers liked to use when repairing old tv's and radios. Nowdays we seldom need a meter like this and most of us use digital meters that have more functions

  I have a Simpson 260 multimeter (VOM) that looks very much like the 260-8P and has similar ranges. I have had my 260 for 40 years and used one like it when I was in the US Navy in the late 1960's. The meter is very durable and works very well for what it was designed to do. But in today's modern era of solid state electronics, 20kohms per volt DC and 5kohms per volt AC is antiquated. Modern meters designed for solid state have an input impedance in the megohms. This meter like cheap VOMs is good for basic electrical measurements but not solid state. It is a wonderful meter and I love it, but it is not worth the price tag of several hundred dollars when there are cheap VOMs in price of tens-of-dollars that do the same measurements (and weigh a lot less, my 260 weighs about 3 pounds).
