  Unit has metal case and O ring seals at both ends,very bright light,used for looking through cooler modules on laptops,will temporaliy blind you,varible focus is good enough to see the LED chip.Highly useful if you need bright light. I have seen none better for this use.

  Price rating is based on current $5.99 There are actually 2 light levels! It turns on at the highest level and a soft push to the switch gives the lower level. I have 2 and with fully charged NimH cells I get currents of 505/180 ma for one, 444/133 for the other. Actually this provides a regulated (constant) LED current for input voltages of 1.1 to 3 volts (don't exceed 3 volts, below 1.1 volts the battery can't provide the current) The box shows a "zoom dimmer" but there is none. The wide beam is 38.6 degrees which is fairly good, the narrow gives a image of the LED with a beam width of 4.3 degrees. It gives a unusually uniform beam pattern between these extremes. You will see from the photo that the head has pocket unfriendly notches but the head unscrews as a aluminum casting (no other parts) so it can be machined to a smooth edge. The knurling OD is .845", the barrel ID is .592" so I milled flats in the first knurled section. Wrapping vinyl tape around this makes it easier to hold in the mouth The The tail appears to have a O-ring seal but this is a gemic. There are 2 O-ring groves and one O-ring but it is not water tight. The quickest solution is to wrap vinyl tape around the tail cap to barrel junction after each battery change. I looked a bit closer: The tail cap ID is .842", the O-ring is .052W X .582" OD and the grove that is used has a diameter of .688" so it is a long way to a good seal. If the grove was cut to .667" dia X .144" W a -115 O-ring would give a loose fit, -114 would be a tight fit (might crack in time) but getting just 1 such O-ring is a problem. A similar problem exists at the seal between the barrel and the head. The head ID is .777" and the O-ring as mounted has a OD of .764". I folded some teflon thread sealing tape in half and rapped 2 turns over the O-ring and part of the threads. 8 layers of teflon tape won't fill the measured gap, so this will probably keep the rain out but it is not good enough for submersion.

  Great flashlight for the price. I do have one comment not associated with the order. If your shipping charges were related to actual shipping cost I believe you would sell a lot more.

  Pretty darn good light. I bought two. Good long battery life and a brilliant white beam. Note this light also has a low light position and a rapid strobe. Good deal for the money.
