This is a simple shield for the Raspberry Pi board to add and Analog to Digital interface. This shield allows the use of both Analog and Digital modules. This ADC board uses the MCP3004 ADC IC, communicating to the Raspberry Pi using the SPI interface.

This board is designed to be used primarily with the Raspberry Pi Linker Kit with nine learning modules. this board allows the use of all nine learning modules without any extra parts needed

    Should not be used unless you only use the ADC

    It appears the engineers who designed the board used an already existing design from another board they designed.

    That board is meant to interface with a 5v GPIO input while the Raspberry Pi is only meant to interface with a +3.3vdc PGIO level. ~+4.3VDC max.

    The +5vdc output to the GPIO pins this board delivers will actually decrease the service life of the Broadcom SoC and GPIO.

    Using my oscilloscope the average input to the GPIO while using the LinkSprite button module was +4.98vdc and saw the Broadcom SoC temperate rise which indicated the voltage was to high for the GPIO that is could not dissipate the extra heat.

    Contacting Link Sprite about the issue the only email I received back was very short and very poor English. "voltage good enough with resistor". That simply is just not the case.
