  I was bent between purchasing a 25W Hakko "Dash" or a Weller WP30. After asking many hobbyists, I was told that Weller used to be the best for the money, but in recent years they've been riding on their name. I can neither confirm nor deny that, but I do know that I would purchase the Hakko again regardless. A wonderful iron, even (especially?) for a beginner. Hope this helps.
