  I've been wanting an analog to USB converter for a long time. Lots of cassette tapes and LPs that I want to make digital copies of for use on my computer audio system and portable players. I've come darn close to buying some of the more expensive A/D units out there, but just haven't been able to swallow the $300+ price tag. When I saw this device advertised, I added it to a parts order to make freight and am just BLOWN AWAY by how cool this thing is. Plugged in and installed easily on both my MacBook Pro and Windows XP desktop, and after I changed it to be the default audio input device it fired right up. The Audacity software is a snap to use for simple editing of tracks (really all I wanted to do...just divide up an LP or cassette into tracks) and I didn't have any issue with converting files to MP3 or capturing as .WAV A really nice feature is the addition of two inputs...one for line inputs (tape, CD, etc) and another for Phono. For even better results, connect the line inputs with to Tape/Record Output of your preamp or receiver so you can take advantage of the better Phono preamp in that device. A really nice, inexpensive problem solver. Highly recommended.

  If you are a real wiz with computers, this may work better for you than it did for me. The instructions are not clear, accurate or complete - so you have to try to get it set up by trail and error. And some settings for the Preferences may work one time, but not the next. I spent 3 hours trying to get it working/recording on my desktop PC, then gave up and tried it on my Mac Book Pro laptop. It seemed to work a little better on the Mac, but I couldn't get the MP3 convert to set up at all - after another 2 hours of farting around with it. Finally, this morning after another 2 hours I got it working on my PC and even converting to MP3 format.
