  • "VERY small mic clip" by hchaudio on 12/18/2014
    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

My rating is based on the build quality of the clip itself, and does not reflect it's probable usefulness to the buyer-- unless you have a very small diameter microphone, this clip is probably not for you.
Size information is very difficult to find on this series of K&M (Konig and Meyer) mic clips, so I bought this one to try on a small size mic. The build quality is pretty good, with nice think plastic molding with a good combination of flexibility, grip, and apparent ruggedness: it also has a brass threaded insert in the bottom-- another feature I didn't have any luck determining online. I'm deducting one star in "quality" because I suspect that it will be easy to pull out the threaded brass insert--- but still a major advantage over threaded plastic .
This clip does have a slight taper, but is ideally suited for microphone shafts that are smaller than 19mm. I tried to put a 19 MM straight-shaft mic (a small-diameter pencil condenser) in the clip, and could only get the mic inserted part way into the clip. The leading edge of the mic clip will handle a diameter slightly greater than 19mm, but the rear edge will NOT expand enough to fit 19MM diameter.
For reference, the mating end of an XLR connector is typically 19 MM. so a mic with a diameter smaller than 19mm would actually be smaller diameter than the end of the XLR-- pretty rare.
Interestingly, the mic clip is sized nearly perfectly (both diameter and taper) to hold the XLR connector itself-- I tried both Switchcraft and Neutrik XLR's, and both fit well. So, if you have a light weight mic that you just can't find a clip for, it's actually possible to support it via the XLR with this clip. The clip also works well for gripping fatter wireless mic antennae (we tried it with the antennae for a Shure UHF-R system.) This clip might also work for measurement microphones that typically have a probe-like extension expanding to roughly 19MM at the connector end, if the clip is reversed.
