  I bought a pair of these 5 inchers to upgrade an old set of speakers I built when I was a kid in the 70's. I originally had (very sought-after) polydax woofers but they bottomed out with the dynamic range used today. These little drivers ROCK. My upgraded speakers sound excellent and I use them in my car. Highly recommended.

  I have used this driver in many designes with great result. Very good for the money. It can be fussy in the midrange, but with a well designed crossover can play smoothly into the upper register. Great for automotive use. You can't go wrong with this little brute.

  One of the first small bookshelf speakers that I ever built utilyzed these woofers. I studied loudspeaker design for many years, hoping to get into the business, but a different job came up. Anyway, I spent a lot of time tweeking this speaker and came up with this. I used a 10.86 liter box that measured: I.D.= 6"w. X 8.5"d. X 13"h. with a 1 1/2" dia. X 3 1/4" long port tube for an F3 of 51 Hz. I used a thin batting on inside "side walls" only to dampen cabinet. I then crossed it over at 3,000 Hz to a quality 1" soft dome tweeter with a 12 dB per octave filter. Seriously, the sound quality, from the midrange to the bass response, rivaled many top commercial name-brands with the exception of the power handling capability. I would not put more than 75 watts per channel into them and would be careful of the volume level. But with my old Toshiba 35 watt per channel receiver they sounded incredible with any type of music!!! The midrange is sweet and natural and the bass is warm and full. An excellent woofer for a s
