6 1/2" Die Cast Aluminum Cone Woofer
Compact, high performance woofer provides extended low frequency response, not typical in drivers of this size. Modeled after our similar (and highly acclaimed) 55-1860, this driver offers greatly increased excursion and a die cast aluminum frame.

      Excellent replacement

      Overall: 3 out of 5

This is an excellent drop in upgrade replacement for the long obsolete and unavailable CBS built Quadraflex QM 606 midrange speaker used in the Quadraflex ST34 and numerous other 15 inch 3 way floor systems marketed by Pacific Stereo throughout the 1970's and early 1980's. Nice not to have to fix or recone the QM 606 anymore.

      No disapointments here

      Overall: 3 out of 5

These are great little speakers with some big sound for there size. I bought 6 of these to put in my towers 2 each with a Vifa tweeter . I crossed them @ 3500 Hz in a box 7.5x13x9.5 inner dim. stuffed full and ported with a 1.5 x 6.45 . These are tight bass with no distortion clear and smooth all the way to 100 watts after break in period only. true audiophile Speakers built like a tank. I would recommend not going above 3500 hz as they get a little muddy above this. Its a great mid woofer as I have these teamed up with two 2 x 8" sub-woofers pushing well over 200 watts. The towers are never lost , they keep quite well...

      Good Low End

      Overall: 4 out of 5

I used this woofer in a 0.7 cu. ft. enclosure stuffed with poly fill. I've tried three other woofers from another company and none have the specs or performance that this one does, especially it's low Fs and Qts. In such a small enclosure I was really surprised that it has usable bass output down to 27 Hz. I have a pair of these in a two way design driven by a 100 Watt per channel stereo amp and you do need some power for these woofers because of their low efficiency and the fact that I use an MCM 2/3 Octave equalizer as well. I can get these speakers flat to below 30 Hz using the equalizer but this requires quite a bit of extra power. I use a dome tweeter and cross over at 2 KHz using a 12 dB/Oct. network. The woofers are very well made and the frame is solid, very good for the price. My only gripe with them is that they have a non-standard diameter and require a larger cut-out hole than other standard size 6 1/2 inch woofers. Now this wasn't a problem initially since I used a new front panel and was able to make the right size cut-out. But it will be a problem if I want to experiment with other 6 1/2 inch woofers which have slightly smaller cut-outs or if the woofer fails and replacements are no longer available. For this reason I will probably order one or two more of them from MCM and keep as spares. I'm a long time MCM customer mainly because of their excellent customer service and no hassle return policy. They are very responsive in resolving any order issues. I love the frequent product sales and the mail fliers and catalogs. I just like dealing with MCM and their web site is best in class.

I have this in a custom built tower, paired with a ribbon tweeter and crossed at 3500Hz. I don't recommend crossing any higher than 4kHz as there is a midrange peak that is a bit harsh. These can be used in a compact enclosure as models show a cabinet size of less that 0.25 cu. ft. for both sealed and ported enclosures. But I like the way they sound better in a larger box. They have a tight, articulate bass response that is unusual for a driver of this size. I will be getting more.

      Great, Great, Great!

      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I own a lot of 6 1/2" drivers but seem to always go back to these when building new boxes. They are a bit heavy because of the shielding but I don't mind. Very good bang for the buck!
