Amplified 6" Ceiling Speaker Pair (with Bluetooth)
Attractive speaker pair is the high tech solution to adding music to any room. Conventional two way speaker design installs in any sheetrock or drop ceiling, providing outstanding fidelity in most background music applications. Built in 15W x 2CH amplifier, with Bluetooth 2.0 receiver allows simple, wireless connectivity to most portable devices. The stereo amplifier is mounted to one speaker frame. Installation requires only running 12VDC power to one speaker, then running a single speaker cable to the second passive speaker. All pairing is accomplished at the mobile device. Idle current is low enough that the speakers can be powered continuously.

Note: This product is sold as a set of two speakers, one with attached stereo amplifier and Bluetooth receiver, the other a matching passive speaker.

    Nice speakers

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I put these in a new bathroom last July. They sounded quite good when paired to an iphone. They lasted about 4 months when my phone would no longer pair with the main speaker. I called MCM and they sent me a new pair (1 year warranty). The new speakers were different in that the bluetooth part was seperate from the speakers. A small plastic box that sits in the ceiling. Same sound and still working. MCM needs to include larger speaker wire to connect the 2 speakers. The 20 or 22 gauge wire that they include is waaaay too small. I used 14 guage which works quite well. I also created a baffle behind each speaker out of very thick fiberglass insulation. Nobody else offers a product quite like this. The biggest challenge for someone to use these might be getting 120 volt power to the bluetooth device. My ceiling was open so I had no issues.

Would and have recommended these speakers.

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

I've had these in use for over a year.

If you can get past the LOUD power-up greeting tones (which is the ONLY reason I didn't give it a five-star rating on "Features/Quality") then they are are excellent speakers and sound great with power to spare. The manual says it is low power enough to be left on constantly but I am using them in my office connected to one of the light switches. I did this so if something should malfunction or a co-worker or visitor happened to pair with it then I could quickly disconnect them since there are no other means to do that. But on a constantly powered installation this mild annoyance is moot.

On a good note, it scares the bejeezus out of the night housekeeping crew.

Fine product, but awful, obnoxious connection and power-up tones.

    Overall: 3 out of 5

This would be a great deal, I think, except for a couple of issues. The biggest deal breaker for me (and the reason I am returning it) is that it is not configurable in any way. When you connect a Bluetooth device, there is a loud and obnoxious tone that comes from the speakers. I don't mind a soft tone that indicates a successful connection, but this is ridiculous, and ridiculously LOUD. Same when powering up, or disconnecting - though the tone is not so annoying.

I planned to install these speakers in an ensuite bathroom, for music while showering. The system is to be connected to a motion sensor, so will power on whenever someone is in the room (and for 15 minutes afterwards). To power it constantly does leave a moderately loud hiss coming from the speakers. Getting up early in the morning for work, and wanting to listen to soft music while getting ready would cause these loud tones to wake my wife in the next room, where soft music would not.

Another issue: A power supply was included with the unit - which is great - but is not documented. In fact, the documentation suggests a power supply to purchase with this unit. I was surprised to find one included, which meant the extra few bucks were wasted.
