18'' PA / DJ Subwoofer
Ideal for use in a larger scale venue, this 18" subwoofer provides high SPL level and low frequency levels.
HEY WHATS UP, GOT 2 OF THESE BIG 18S A FEW DAYS BACK SOUND GOOD. ONE CAME IN OK, THE OTHER HAD COME APART ON THE FRONT BAFF, HAD TO SCREW THE CAB BACK TOGETHER. SCREWED BOTH TOGETHER TO REINFORCE CABS THEN SEALED BOTH CABS ON THE INSIDE. THESE CABS ARE STAPLED TOGETHER. I ALSO BOUGHT 2 OF THE 49$ 18S THESE ARE BIG HEAVY WOOFS BUILDING BOXES FOR THESE. I WOULD BUY THESE WOOF CABS AGAIN BECAUSE THE PRICE IS GOOD, AND THE SOUND IS GOOD THEY THUMP HARD WITH GOOD AMP. GOT THE 10S 15S PAIR WITH 18S MAKE FOR A GOOD SOUND. HAVE TO GIVE F/Q A 3 HAD TO ALMOST REBUILD CAB OF SECOND WOOF STILL PLAN ON GETTING 2 MORE. UNTIL NEXT TIME, LOVE-TRUTH-PEACE-FREDOM AND JUSTICE, LOVE YA, OUT.
After receiving our cabinets I noticed how lightly built they were. I replaced the cheap plastic feet and input connectors like a couple people have recommended, but after running these subs it was evident that the cabinets couldn't take the sound pressure that the speaker is rated at. Both the cabinet sides started rattling and popping even before we reached the rated power. The only way to get it to stop was by applying pressure to the cabinet sides.
At the price it wasn't worth sending them back, so we sold them at a loss and bought better subs with same electrical spec's and actually weigh 95 lbs, (not 50) and have a better sound.... Money well worth spending.
Budget priced subwoofer has no corner metal reinforcements. I used this once and was not happy with the low end bass (no thump!). I decided to change the driver with something more heavy duty... that's when I discovered how poorly put together these cabinets are! NO joint reinforcements on the inside... I tell you, I used this once and one of the joints had already split.
Next time I think I will spend a little more and get something with better build quality!
You must understand a few things going into a purchase like this. You must be part cabinet maker and part technician.
The first thing you must do to make these cabs useable is to totally disassemble and internally brace the cabinet. I used 1 1/2" bracing glued and screwed at every panel junction. Then I reinforced each internal wall by adding 3/8" panels to each surface. Then I replaced the plastic pole mount with a metal one. Next, rewired the jack plate and low pass filter with 12ga. wire. ( if you plan to use an electronic crossover, you can eliminate the filter altogether) Then, add some metal corners. I'm currently in the process of re-calculating the cabinet /port tuning. THEN, they will be ready for prime time.
You might ask why go through all this...and that's a very good question. I just like to do this type of project. Believe me, these cabinets ARE projects.
I am using this as my home theater subwoofer with a 1000watt class AB amplifier driving it. Downside: A bit muddy for higher frequency bass. Upside: Very efficient and good response down to 30Hz and possibly lower. I may try playing around with porting and cabinet damping in attempt to provide more punch. Overall: It rattles the house and very much overpowers the main speakers unless the gain is reduced. Can't wait to wring it out at my next outside party to wake the neighbors.
started out with 2 of these for use in tri amped system with QSC GX3 amps. out of the box with no mods the subs sounded fantastic. recently purchased 2 more to run parallel with the others, the thump now is unbelievable
while i don't believe it made an audible difference in sound i went ahead and removed the internal x-overs and substituted 12AWG wire while replacing mounting plates available elsewhere that had 2 speakon +2 1/4" jacks
also added two 1X2 hard wood skids to bottom of cabinets. they are "light weight" which to me at age 61 is a plus and as long proper handling is used should last a long time. I don't think you can find a better deal anywhere
Good Deal I really enjoy the sound quality in which this unit provides in all types of venues......Thanks MCM!!!!
I followed the other reviews on bypassing the Low Pass Filter & increasing the wiring size before I ever tried them. What you also need to do is replace the Speaker Pole Socket with a Steel one & make sure that you bolt them on with oversized washer on the inside otherwise they will break & pull out. Don't bother to install the included feet, they will break off the first time you slide them into position.
After all of this is done they do have a nice punchy sound..
An excellent woofer for fixed applications. Not at all road worthy, Sounds fine but easily damaged, (1\2" particle board), AND very light weight grill. BUT for the money it will make any sound install fat!
After a few mods, these sounded pretty good.
First I removed the passive crossover (using external crossover). Then I rewired using heavier wire.
I replaced the cheap plastic 1/4" connectors with metal ones.
Small to medium size room and two of these will fill it pretty good.
I used a pair at a small outdoor concert (pop/rock) and wished I had a couple more of them.
For the money, you can't beat them though! Super lightweight and really push out the bass with a little bit of EQ.
I was looking for an inexpensive pair of 18" subs for my PA gear and decided to give them a try. I would recommend these subs to anyone looking to add some low end frequency to their sound system.
I purchased 1 of these to add bass to my 2 15" speaker cabinets for house parties. The bass is really tight if you use an equalizer. This is just what i was looking for! I paid 80 dollars for it on sale however i would safely say that it is worth the 114 that MCM is charging. I plan on using the speaker for my wedding reception. The bass is equal to many night club systems i have heard. I think that a DJ could use these as well if you purchase 2 of them. There are a couple of down sides, there are no corner protectors, the pole mount is plastic and i dont trust it, and the front grill can be dented VERY easily. Overall i give the speaker two big thumbs up and i plan on purchasing a second sub in the future.
I'd been watching these on here for a while now, and I was hoping I could get into some nice bass for my open shop/hangout area. These fit the bill well, and really do well with a quick mod :-) I noticed the connections on the back are not the best, kinda cheap binding post, lucky I'm using banana plugs! (recommended!) After seeing the connections, I figured the insidey - guts might might be a little lacking too?? SO I tore my brand new subs apart and checked em out! They have a small low pass crossover network that doesn't need to be there, I'm using an active crossover, most people will not need this.. The wire was a bit thin for my taste too, so I resoldered a heavier gauge wire from the terminal to the sub, and they have better power handling and less distortion too! A pair of these, a quick fix and you have a great sub setup that you'll feel in your chest!
I have a small DJ Business and was looking for some additional subs to fill more bass, I currently have a JBL Soundfactor Bandpass box that is fantastic. I was looking for some "cheaper" subs to help round out my arsenal. When I got home and saw the size of the box I thought "great these will not be very good". Upon opening i noticed they were a small box, no biggie I thought, easier to move to gigs. The handles felt a little cheap when I lifted it out and the pole mount cup is plastic and very weak, the screw in feet are abs and do not grip well on a tile floor. THEN I hooked them up and was like "are you kidding me" That loud, tight, and responsive bass is comming from those 2 speakers??? Was very impressed with the sound and quality from these "cheap" speakers, I am pushing them with a behringer ep4000 and am very happy. I would recommend a few upgrades, a metal pole mount cup, rubber feet, and speaker corners, which you can order seperately for about $20 per speaker. Great product can't wait to push them in a venue soon.
Another great value from MCM! Very clean and tight bass in a well built cabinet. Provides solid bottom end you can really feel. An excellent choice for bi-amped systems. No rattles or vibrations when driven hard with a 1000 watt rms amp. We use these mainly for outdoor concerts.

I am very pleased with my experience with MCM. The website was easy to use, and has some very competitive prices. My order was shipped very quickly and I received my order less than a week after I placed it.
