43" Panasonic Projection LCD TV Models:
Great Lamp, The last one from MCM is still running fine after 3years- And this set runs 4-8 hours everyday! Just ordering a spare as the lamp life display timer has started coming on.
I did learn if the brightness settiing is kept below 50 percent the lamps last much longer, Also make sure the cooling fan for them is running and cleaned out ( Get dusty ). Have to take the set apart for the fan though.
I ordered this lamp when my first one went out on my tv. The lamp showed up quickly and it was exactly what I needed. The lamp is still working, now I just need to get the ballast in the tv to work.
Warning and beware - this is a replacement bulb and assembly made by and recommended by Panasonic for their top end LCD televisions. I currently own a PT-50LC13, 50 inch unit and have it set up in a standard living room configuration. According to Panasonic the bulb is supposed to give you 10,000 between changes (at 3 hours of TV time per day - that's equates to nearly 9 operational years) - I've been lucky to get 1500 to 2000 hours (and less) per bulb. The biggest issue, other than inconvenience, is cost: averaging $225 per purchase - I've spent well over $700 over a seven year span - in replacing three of these bulbs (this figure does not include shipping). Panasonic also recommends replacing the full unit - assembly and bulb. This increases this cost factor dramatically. No environmental or power issues exist, that would cause the bulbs to fail early. I have no firm reasoning or explanation as to why they fail as frequently as they do.
Bottom line - the bulbs burn out early, they are very expensive to replace, and Panasonic could care less about whether that is an issue for its customers. I'm looking to replace the 50 inch TV soon, and I assure you I will not purchase another Panasonic TV - on principle, on reliability, and customer service alone.
I purchased my Panasonic LCD HDTV back in 2003. The factory bulb lasted less than a year. I called Panasonic and they replaced it for free. The second bulb lasted less than 6 months and Panasonic absolutely refused to do anything about.
I purchased the 3rd bulb from another online store... the cheapest I could find. It lasted about 10 months.
I purchased my 4th bulb from MCM back in 2005 and it just burned out today. It gave me just about 4 years of good service. I'm ordering number 5 today.
I must admit, I haven't had any of the problems others have had with this Panasonic series. I purchased a replacement bulb from MCM becuase it was the lowest price. Currently, I have 9300h on the bulb and it is doing fine. My original factory bulb lasted 12,000h. I checked recently to see if I need a new one soon. This bulb looks to exceed the 10,000 service life. You can't go wrong with a replacement from MCM.
