Great for connecting PC audio or MP3 player to balanced mixer input

    Quality:

At the church where I attend, we were connecting our computer's sound card ouput to a couple of our mixer's 1/4" inputs using a 3.5mm stereo to (2) RCA plug Y-cable, combined with a couple of RCA-to-1/4" TS adapters. This was causing some considerable hum/buzz through the system, which was very distracting. So I purchased one of these, plugged it into the sound card's output and used a short XLR male-to-female patch cable to connect the other end to one of the mixer's balanced XLR inputs. The system was dead quiet, so this thing seems to do its job well. Another benefit is that you can use the switch on this thing to sum the stereo output of your source to mono, which can free up another input on your mixer (as it did in our case).
