Need bigger version for future, versatile web appliance

    Overall: 3.5 out of 5

    Quality:

I have been able to use the case to build a rudimentary web-appliance, called the Fracking Detector Kit. I could hold the Pi, and a second partial board for accepting sensor signal, data acquisition intobthe Pi.
A bigger case, that can hold a full-sized sensor-probe, signal conditioning; as well a third, A2D board will enable a connected experimentation station, in the vein of Internet of Things applications, for education, and a whole spectrum of applications.

Hard to open first time and missing parts!

This case had protective plastic on both the outside and inside! Instructions on how to open it would of been real helpful! You can't just pull the two pieces apart. One must pry the end open first. Small tabs would of helped or even a picture demonstrating how to open. I guess you don't need or get "light pipes" with clear case but what about the actuators? I got the feet and a cracked corner but it is still functional. How is the camera cut-out used? Better documentation would be helpful!

Tricky to install the raspberry PI and Piface board with the supplied buttons. Ended up loosing one to the buttons as I struggled to fit everything together.

    Good idea, poorly implemented

    Overall: 1 out of 5

The bottom part seems to be designed OK. The main problem with it is the poorly thought out "light pipe" design. A tiny piece of unpolished plexiglass, that you have to press-fit into a share recess, and it's dim. It's difficult to do, and doesn't stay put. The top half is a disaster. The "light pipe" for that just sits in a recess, and never stays put during assembly, (which you have to do upside down to keep everything in place. I had to superglue the pipe, because it would never stay put after assembly. Again, the pipe is unpolished, and the light is very dim. Once assembled, the sides of the top, which are spread during assembly, never seat properly, and it's very noticeable. Unfortunately this is the only case I could find for the RPI and Pi-Face, so I'll have to make do...
