    Outstanding Deep Fringe Antenna

    Overall: 5 out of 5

When I went from an antenna receiving 5 channels to cable in the 80's , Cable TV cost $28.00 month for all channels. When cable went to $180.00 a few months ago, I cut the cable and installed this Antenna. I live in Statesville NC about 40 miles from Charlotte and 40 miles from Winston-Salem. With this antenna ten feet above my roof I get 64 Channels. There are movie channels, comedy channels, retro channels, and all 4 networks. ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, Home Shopping, indipendent showing Lassie, Hop Along Cassidy, Father knows best and more. Best of all it is all free and I am not paying the cable company one red cent. This antenna is outstanding. It is easy to put together and easy to install. I will never go back to cable or satellite TV again. Their prices are astronomically high, their service is terrible and they have no idea how to maintain their systems so you dont get pixelization and ghosting. You cannot go wrong with this antenna. I am 70 years old and installing it was very easy. Just be very careful up on the roof. For the pole mount I used an old Satellite dish tripod mount that wqs left on the roof. The TV antenna pole slips right in. I do not use a rotator because I do not need one, but a rotator would be simple to install. Cut the cable and tell the cable or dish company where to go. There are more free channels on the air than you realize. I am saving enough money each month to buy a nice economy used car.

    Great build

    Overall: 5 out of 5

Very impressed with the design and build quality. The directors are all punched through the booms, the corner reflector clips in place and the three booms mount into the plastic piece. Takes a minute to assemble, but there's nothing that's going to snap off or get bent up once it's in place (can't be said of all antennas).

I'd estimate the gain to be in the neighborhood of 14dBd (depending on frequency of course). Used it on two installs, both about 65mi (preamplified, flat terrain) and it got good signal on all channels.

    70 mile deep fringe yagi!

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I wanted a high gain uhf antenna to hook up in the attic as a backup TV reception. If my rooftop antenna blows down or fails I hook this attic antenna in to the splitter amplifier in the basement! I assembled it in the kitchen all but the reflectors since they were too wide to fit through the attic pull down stairway opening. I drilled two holes through a inch and one half PVC pipe and screwed it to a 2x4 cross brace in the attic and mounted the antenna too the pipe. I was able to rotate it by hand to get the best signal and the reception was fantastic except channel 2 which was transmitting on VHF channel 12 in Chicago. I couldn't receive that so I put a high quality splitter at the antenna and hooked up an old VHF rabbit ear antenna with the elements extended about 18 inches and behold! All channels came in perfect including channel two! My back up system is just as good as the rooftop antenna! Thanks too Stellar Labs well designed and constructed antenna! You cant go wrong with this antenna and the value for the price is exceptional!

A heavy-duty antenna that works well

I purchased this antenna to replace the MCM 30-2155. While there was absolutely nothing wrong with the original antenna, I wanted a bit more gain for some of my more distant stations. I also liked the fact that the new antenna was balanced and does not sag at all on the mast. The antenna assembled very easily in about 15 minutes. The instructions are not the best, but most people should have no problem comparing the images with the antenna parts. I especially liked the "improved" antenna feed point. This seems to be much better engineered over the original 30-2155. Not described in the manual, the antenna has a small, black plastic cable clamp attached to the bottom support. I repositioned this to the rear end of the support and inverted it. This change permits a smooth transition from the feed point to the mast and provides good support of the RG-6 cable. There is also a minor typo/error in the manual that at first made my heart skip a beat. It states the antenna covers channels 21-69. In reality, it does work on channels as low as 14 (470 MHz.) Also, the main drawing shows the mast clamping very close to the rear end of the bottom support. This was not the case on my antenna as the clamp was closer to the center. This location provides an almost perfect balance of the antenna. One thing I really liked during construction were the "wing nuts." They are really regular nuts with a built-in wrench. As such, it is easy to secure them with either your hand or an adjustable wrench. Overall, I am seeing a bit more gain on my weaker stations and the beam width is sharper too. The antenna is constructed out of heavy duty aluminum and steel so it should withstand a Minnesota winter without any problem.
