This antenna is unbelievable! I haven't gotten it up on the roof yet, but when I tried it out in my driveway, about 9 ft. above the pavement, it picked up several stations from the Twin Cities (Shoreview, MN), about 73 miles north of us. That was in addition to all local area stations off the back of the antenna, through a 100 ft. roll of cable, without a preamp, and without turning the antenna. When I added the preamp, I got several more Twin Cities stations, plus stations from the Lacrosse, WI area, 75 miles east, off the side of the antenna. I'm sure that reception will vary with the weather, but I can't wait to see what it will do when I get it up about 30 feet. Assembly is straightforward, and the thing seems to be pretty solidly constructed. I recommend using a good silicone sealer on the coax boots that come with the antenna. I think this antenna will take a lot more ice buildup than a long conventional antenna. As always, MCM got it here quickly. I highly recommend both this antenna and MCM. Once mine is permanently mounted, it's goodbye satellite!

You can not go wrong with this purchase!!!! This antenna is nothing short of excellent. You can tune it into a area of your state (like I did) by simply putting it at a angle and it automatically turns into a huge vacuum cleaner *wink* pulling everything in that area. Thunderstorms are NO MATCH for the pull of this one. You will loose power before you loose signal strength during a storm and I have had storms were the rain was coming down so hard you could not see 20 feet in front of you. (I also get snow). Tip I did some searching found TV station web sites with GPS specifications and tuned it in. *wink*

I bought this on Amazon. Put it up a few days ago. I'm 67-70 miles north of NYC. I put it up roughly 20 feet high to start and aimed roughly at NYC. After a scan and a few adjustments I got 25 channels but not all from NYC. WNYW and WWOR came in but not WCBS,WNBC,WABC,or WPIX which are in the same general area. But a little more adjusting will hopefully remedy that. What DOES come in comes in crystal clear!
This is an EXCELLENT value for the money! It costs less some similar models. Easy to assemble with NO tools needed. Lightweight as well. If you're 60-80 miles from the towers give this antenna a try!

I mounted both panels towards my most distant stations which are around 100 miles and to the east. My closer ones are around 60 and to the south. It picked up the closer ones from the south off of the side of the antenna and a lot of the farthest ones pointed directly to the east. Quite a few of the farthest ones would come in at night but not during the day. I added a Channel Master 7777 amplifier and everything works great now. Great price. Great service. Thanks MCM!

    Better Than I Expected

    Overall: 5 out of 5

I am using this antenna to receive channels which range from as close as 9 miles to up to 35 miles away, most are about 25 miles. I am on the north side of San Antonio, TX, surrounded by houses, trees, and power lines. The channels I get are coming from South and West of San Antonio. The antenna is mounted on a pole at about 15 feet high. At first I tried using the antenna with the two panels facing 90 degrees apart, one facing West and one facing South, because I didn't think the antenna reception pattern was wide enough to receive all of the channels from both directions set up as one flat panel. I did receive all of the channels, but most of them had very weak signal. Then I tried putting both panels flat parallel to each other, and found a South - Southwest direction where the signal was strongest on most channels. This configuration gave me the best overall performance. It would appear that the reception angle is wider than the specifications suggest it to be, it even seems to pick up from behind fairly well, there is one station about 8.5 miles North of me that comes in just fine. The only reception trouble I was having was when the weather would change and when Airplanes would fly over. There is a lot of cable between the antenna and the TV's. I am serving 3 TV's with this antenna and I have a 4 port distribution amp ( PCT MA2-4P ). There is about 40 feet of cable between the antenna and the distribution amp. To fix the remaining reception trouble I decided to add a mast mounted pre-amp. I installed a Winegard Boost XT ( LNA-200 ) pre-amp on the mast with only 3 feet of cable between the antenna and the amp. This antenna coupled with the Winegard LNA-200 pre-amp now gives me 56 channels which all come in perfectly. This is an excellent antenna even without the pre-amp, but if you are running long cables and serving multiple TV's, I highly suggest adding the pre-amp to boost the quality signal this antenna will receive.

In our region of Northwest Ohio the Channel Master 8 bay or 8X for us experts has been the standard for more than 50 years. That is about to change!!! In a head to head test on the same pipe with the same booster the 30-2430 Stellar labs antenna out performed the 8X. Providing a increase in signal strength of between 25% & 30% depending on which channels you were operating on! Our channels are 8.1, 8.2, 15.1, 15.2, 15.3, 21.1, 21.2, 21.3, 27,1, 27.2, 27.3, 33.1, 33.2, 35.1, 35.2, 39.1, 39.2,39.3, 39.4, 44.1, 44.2, 55.1, 55.2. It does this with the antenna pointing in one direction with no motor to turn it. Signals come from east, west, and north. The 30-2430 even provided a signal increase of 27% on 8.1 and 8.2 which are VHF channels, and this is a UHF antenna!! The bi-fold design can be used to point in two directions but that compromises the signal strength. This saves shipping cost as the box is smaller. One thing to remember concerns the brackets that hold the bi-fold joints. You must reverse the direction on one of the plates so the hold jaws are on opposite sides in order to hold the joint solid in high winds when you are using the antenna in a flat orientation. If you do not do this the antenna will fold in half when a high wind hits it. The instructions are not clear on this fact. and the joint could have a better design for bi-fold use. But since the advantage of this antenna's signal power comes from it being flat it makes no sense to bi-fold it. Better to use another antenna (usually the 4 bay version) for receiving signal from another direction if needed and a coupler to link them together before going to your booster. We give the Stellar Labs 30-2430 antenna 2 thumbs up!!!

Antenna arrived and was simple to put together. I receive more channels than I want from Tamps with stations an average of 50 miles or more. I get clear signals on 20' pole and no need to go higher. I recommend it for price, quality and performance. Buying another for a friend that has problems getting same stations and is 12 miles closer to the transmitters. I am a satisfied customer.

    Good well-built antenna

    Overall: 4.5 out of 5

The innovative mechanical construction of this antenna impressed me very favorably. It replaced a suburban type combo VHF-UHF antenna. I was pleased that the 30-2430 received the high band VHF stations from Minneapolis as well as the old antenna at a distance of 25 air miles. Signal strength on the Minneapolis UHF stations is stronger with the 30-2430. I aimed this antenna between the Minneapolis stations and a low powered repeater 15 miles distant, about 60 degrees apart. The reception from the repeater broke up frequently with the old antenna and the 30-2430 does no better. But I get good reception of the repeater with a rabbit ears in my bedroom!! I really think digital reception is dependent greatly on location, location, location of the receiving antenna and less on the gain of the antenna. I rate the 30-2430 a good value.

Great UHF HDTV antenna, also good for VHF High within 25 miles of tower

    Overall: 5 out of 5

This antenna is well built. I am able to get a great signal 22 miles from the six stations in the Jackson, MS market. If there wasn't a line of pine trees about 25 feet in front of the antenna, I would probably get 100 signal strength on all six stations.

Note that the cables connecting each side to the combiner are RG-59. I would advise replacing with 2 three foot RG-6 quad shield cable, check leading auction sites for the best deal. Also, if you want to receive VHF high (actual chs 7-13), I would recommend using a regular splitter rated 5-900 or 5-1000Mhz instead.

I also installed a preamplifier to improve signal strength. If you are 25 miles or more away from your stations, consider adding the preamplifier.

Despite making these minor changes, I am extremely happy with this antenna for the price and would highly recommend it to anybody.

I've had an increasing number of requests for outdoor antennas over the past two years, and have installed several of these and the single panel version - 30-2425. These top notch antennas are made well and look great once installed. The performance is comparable to many others out there that cost more than double. It even works reasonably well with the rare stations that are still VHF, as long as you are within 25m miles or so. This is without a doubt the best antenna value I've seen yet. I will continue to use and highly recommend.

I built a four-bay antenna out of a 2x4, some coat hangers, and a bunch of screws that i had in my basement. I had a balun lying around so I didn't have to buy that either. I figure that my old home-made antenna had around $5 worth of parts (if purchased). It didn't cost me anything except for about an hour to get everything ready and put together. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it works.

There is one channel in Charlotte, NC that I can not receive. I figured that this 30-0240 would do the job. Not only does it NOT pick up that channel, it doesn't seem to work any better than my home-made antenna that didn't cost me anything at all.

So now, I am out around $70 just to have a prettier antenna. It's not worth the effort and cost to send it back as I would get stuck with shipping both ways.

This is a very excellent to use for outdoor UHF reception. This antenna is very good for stacking and diversity reception. I have 5 of these stacked together for remote location and for receiving low powered stations. I used DGSCA201 by unbeatable sale two in and one out for combining the antennas. A standard VHF/UHF antenna is not enough for reception and gain. I recommend this antenna for UHF HD television.
