    Good Antenna

    Like kenn6 was saying the directions suck. I was ready to box it up and get what money I could get back. Thank you kenn6 I changed that thing and Channels starting coming in. I have line of site to the mountains and antenna, but I need an amplifier to get the maximum amount of channels. I am disabled so I will put it in my attic and attach it to the homes cable system and ad a amplifier for each TV (I only have 2). I only gave it 4 stars because of the directions. MCM get that resolved. Do a you tube video and help sell your products better. Otherwise thank you, my neighbor bought a $90 one at Wally world and he only gets 20 channels. I got 27 with amp. Does anyone recommend a good amplifier? MCM do you carry them?

    A few years ago our family Got rid of cable TV and went back to broadcast TV. We were looking for an antenna to put in the attic so most of our TV's could receive broadcast signals. Before using this antenna we able to get 60+ channels with several indoor antennas for each TV. Now, With this antenna by itself we were able to receive 79 channels. With the addition of an old RadioShack VHF/UHF antenna I had bought back in the 90's we were able to pickup 86 broadcast channels. WooHoo!!! I love it!!! The antenna works great all by itself, but by adding an additional VHF/UHF antenna we able to pickup a bit more signal and range. And, to connect everything the existing cable wiring on the house was used. Thanks guys!!! xD

    only Antenna U need

    This is the third Stellar Lab antenna I've purchased...the other 2 are a single and double bay antennas for a garage TV and the other one is a bedroom TV...this one is for the Living room TV...I attached it to a rotor /mast combo 20 feet up...RG 6 cable run left over from DISHNETWORK set-up that is less than 20 feet long and B I N G O ! only one word for it...OMG ....B E E Y O U T E A F U L L HD TV! GO AND CUT THE CABLE BILL NOW I MEAN NOW ...MCM made it possible with great product and value pricing...theres only one broadcaster on VHF hi thats 35miles away (MeTv) and the rest both in the Bufallo and Ontario use UHF and while Toronto is 45 miles away...this antenna GETS THEM ALL! FREE Hockey on CBC...DISH makes you pay $180.00 U do the math!

    Couldn't get VHF

    In northern VT we need both UHF and VHF. All channels are co-located on Mt Mansfield. The UHF came in strong, but couldn't get VHF, however I didn't try Kenn6's recommendation that a part may be showing its installation backwards. I then bought the 60 mile Yagi, the separate VHF antenna and the VHF/UHF combiner, and all channels come in strong now. Don't know if the part was backwards or if I needed the combiner, or what. My neighbor was so impressed with free TV, he took the dual band antenna, so we're both happy. :-)

    Pulls in strong VHF

    Very easy to put together (*SNAP*) but I do agree with the previous review that the directions are only pictures, and not step by step numbered and bulleted. So if one wasn't mechanically oriented, this might pose a bit of confusion.
    Performance is excellent; however. About 42 miles from the towers near the shores of Lake Erie pointed approximately 345 degrees NNW, the Hi-V channels come in clear and strong. I can't say that the 60- mile range claim is correct, but I believe it to be possible. UHF channels are crystal clear as they were before with a much smaller (and different design) big box store brand.

    I also aimed with a compass so I knew I was in the pocket that I needed to be in. Terrain is somewhat hilly here and there are many large trees along the path, but this pulls in every reasonably available station with no pixelation.

    Mounted about 28 feet above ground level and because I have all channels available, I don't see the need to raise it. However, with the previous antenna I was using height made a big difference. I would recommend this product based on performance.

    The construction is somewhat lacking, especially on the rear reflector that snaps together. The plastic pieces don't seem to lock snugly. Other than that, great!

    Works great once I figured it out

    I don't know how this didn't end up in the reviews but the black feeder box appears to be backwards in the installation manual. Maybe I got a funny batch. The little metal bar on the front in the manual is actually the reflector for the driven element for High-UHF inside the box on a circuit board under the VHF connectors. It should be on the back with the larger driven elements in front. The arrow on the box points backward and so do the instructions. They even mention to carefully note the direction! I thought I this was crazy so I took the box into my shop and hooked it up to another TV. Sure enough there was a strong signal with the box facing "backwards". I took it apart to find the little bar is not electrically connected and could only be a reflector for the driven element on the circuit board. I put it up with the box "backwards" and I get signals across the state. I gave it 3 stars even though the instructions are painfully wrong, especially if you have it up high!!! I was fortunate and get these signals with dozens of channels up about 10 feet with no preamp in the Sierra foothills. If you are getting poor reception at first, try what I did.

    It's all about location--

    Before installing this or any other antenna visit Use their database to pinpoint your location versus TV stations you will be able to view. As a Licensed Engineer, I don't "feel or think" I analyze data and compile facts. It happens at my location, the closest broadcast station is 24 miles away and most are 30-40. If you use you simply point the antenna using a compass. Since this antenna has about a 40 degree beam width, I could cover all stations with a single fixed azimuth position. I did find 12ft. elevation versus 30ft and found 6db gain (4x) in signal. Remember higher is better. VHF and UHF is line of site. I purchased this antenna because its mount is on the rear of the antenna allowing me to side mount the antenna on my communications tower.

    Worked perfectly

    I needed to add an off air antenna for my in-laws as cable was getting too expensive. They're 30 miles from the TV transmitter site. I ordered this model based on a recommendation from a more knowledgeable friend than myself. It arrived in just a few days and was very easy to assemble. My hope was that I could get away with installing it in the attic as I was hesitant to climb 2 stories to mount it on the roof. Too my great surprise, it works beautifully in the attic, pulling in about 15 different stations. The mounting was very simple and the directions just fine. Overall a good investment

    Okay, better than any other antenna I have tested.

    Maybe I just live in a difficult spot. Most of my stations are in the 186 to 199 degrees area and about 12.5 miles away yet reception is often problematic. Sometimes some stations will be excellent with 8 (out of 10) bars strength and other times the same station will drift in and out with the signal changing from zero to 3. Some stations within the arc but at 37.5 miles cannot even be detected, let alone be watched. other stations within the arc consistently show a signal strength of 7 to 9 bars at all times while yet more stations cannot even achieve 3 bars consistently. Positioning is VERY critical and sometimes elevated to 15 feet works well yet other times less than ten feet is better. I've tried several locations in the yard and ALL are different. One thing to note is the two VHF stations I receive have the most stable signal in all weather conditions whereas the UHF stations are the more problematic.

    ALL of the above is with the use of a 12 db amplifier, without the amp I get very poor reception. In total I can recognize about 30 to 39 channels on a scan (it varies with antenna placement and height) yet at least 25% of them are unwatchable sue to poor or varying signal strength. Another bunch are religious or shopping so of no interest to me leaving about 13 channels that I might actually watch.

    Antenna is great for distance!!

    Purchased this antenna on 7-30-2014 & received it 3 days later. I live In Temecula CA 79 miles away from the Los Angels broadcasting tower & 84 miles from San Diego tower. I was a bit skeptical because the details on the antenna said the range It was 60 miles so I purchased a Winegard amplifier to push it into the 80 mile range needed to pick up signal. Installed the Antenna 25ft of the ground facing the Los Angles towers & only picked up 9 Channels. Was pretty bummed out so I called customer service for some advise & they told me that I have done everything I could to get signal so now it's time to put up a bigger antenna that can pull in a better signal. So I started reading on some Antenna forums & read a lot of people saying that the amplifiers can cut down on the amount of channels that you can receive. Got back on the ladder & pulled of the amplifier and rebooted the tv. Almost couldn't believe my eyes!!! The tv scan was saying 132 channels!! Sat down & went through all of them. A good 70 where In English & the rest in different languages. Super happy with the antenna & would recommend to anyone wanting to get channels over 60 miles out. Can't beat the price the quality of this little antenna!

    I have had this antenna for about six months. It is roof mounted on a short mast. I live around 30 miles from the transmitters. Very happy with the reception. It works flawlessly. I also use it to record TV shows with a Home Media PC and never had an issue. It went through a severe winter here and it held up very well.

    Good reception, weak mechanically

    Reception seems fairly good so far. If you can get it up high (>30 ft.), over flat terrain and assuming the station is fairly powerful and broadcasts off a very high tower, it might actually make its 60 mile rating.

    The problem is that the boom is only about 0.71" square (cross-section) and made of 0.31" thick aluminum. This might be ok of the antenna was supported in the middle of the assembly ( clamp-to-mast location), but, instead, the antenna clamps to the mast at the extreme rear of the boom. This puts huge leverage on the rear of the boom -- I doubt it would survive a 40 mph wind, or a quarter inch of ice: Both are common events in the mid-South.

    Almost as bad, this design puts enormous torque on your mast if there is much wind. This may twist your antenna in it's clamp or at the mast clamp to its mount or a rotator, or it may damage your rotator. Or it may simply break the clamp with time. (In a good boom antenna design, the wind load to the rear of the mast would approximately balance the wind load to the front of the mast.)

    The only way I can see using an antenna of this type, with this (mounting) design with such a light boom is:

    In an attic.

    On a mast with very serious bracing added. Hopefully the structure would durable and not be too "real Rube Goldberg".

    Two on a mast, essentially back-to-back, and well braced. I am thinking of running a steel re-rod or steel bars as far in from the back of the boom as possible, and probably adding external bracing as well. This will hopefully work, but not even including my time, will probably cost as much as the 2 antennas did, when all is said and done. And it will be heavy. At least the good news is that most of our "main" stations are in 2 groups, roughly 180 degrees apart.

    This antenna is easy to set up and install. HDTV VHF and UHF is suprising good. 10 foot mast, on roof, works great. San Fernando Valley Calif. I'm picking up some stations over 60 miles away. Go for it!

    Snap to install

    I recently installed this antenna in my attic. With a little direction tuning and a amplifier I picked up all of my area stations which are 40 to 50 miles away and spread over a 40 degree arc. The one thing that really stood out when install this antenna was how easy it was to assemble. There are only three wing nuts and two of those are for attaching the antenna to the pole. Otherwise everything either folds out or simply snaps into place. I've assembles a number of antenna in my life and this was truly the first one I can say was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend this product.
