  THIS SOLDERING STATION WAS ON SALE SO I TOOK A CHANCE AND BOUGHT IT. I WASNT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT FOR $39.95 BECAUSE THIS IS THE FIRST TENMA BRANDED TOOL I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. IN HINDSIGHT I REGRET THAT I DID'NT BUY TWO. EVEN AT IT'S REGULAR PRICE OF $61.19 IT WOULD BE A GOOD DEAL BUT AT $39.95 IT WAS A STEAL. THE THIN, LIGHTWEIGHT SOLDERING IRON IS ATTACHED TO A SOFT, FLEXIBLE CORD OF ADEQUATE BENCHTOP LENGTH AND PLUGS INTO THE FACE OF THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT. WHEN TURNED ON, THE TIP HEATS UP VERY FAST AND ACCORDING TO IT'S OWN ACTUAL TEMPERATURE READOUT ON THE DISPLAY, THE THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED TIP APPEARS TO MAINTAIN THE SET HEAT EVEN AFTER CLEANING THE TIP ON A COPPER SPONGE. REPLACEMENT TIPS ARE RESONABLY PRICED AS WELL. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE.

  I am Very satisfied with the product. It has three presets that are totally adjustable and it heats up quick. I’m an electronics hobbyist whose use to working with an old style plug and play 30 watt iron and this new one is sooo much better, it de-solders components very quickly. The only thing that was not “up to par” so to speak was the stand that comes with it, it’s nice but seems like it could hold the iron better with a little modification.

  I've never owned a solder STATION before, but I've owned quite a few different soldering irons. Let me tell you, there is a difference. The other soldering irons I own are like TOYS compared to this bad boy. Set the temperature, and literally within seconds..you are ready to go. Not like before...plug in and wait......then half way through your joint....the iron begins to cool down, or cycle, or whatever it is doing...This iron stays right on temperature...If you are contemplating the purchase of a soldering iron, just go ahead and buy this station....you'll be way ahead in the long run. No buying another one later. This one will last a lifetime, and really represents a great value for the price...If you can catch it on sale...that is GREAT, if not, it is still worth every penny of the regular price...

  The soldering station is very nice with the digital readout and programable temp. It heats and works very good. The holder should be weighted so that it doesn't move so easy.. otherwise very nice.

  I always wanted a temperature controlled station and bought this when it was on sale recently. It does everything it says and keeps the heat well. I would recommend this to anyone, even at full price!

  When I finally found out what the normal soldering temp should be (had to get advice from folks who uses soldering irons a lot) then I found it great and a pleasure to use. Had a drawer full of different wattages and none were usable on every project but this one fits all. Wish I'd had one long ago.

  I have always wanted a nice adjustable iron but hated the thought of spending $200 for a Weller. This setup, on sale for $40 was an extremely good bargain. The iron heats up quickly and holds its heat well.

  I recently purchased this soldering station when MCM had it on sale for $40. It is absolutely wonderful. An excellent soldering station. I would definately recommend it for anyone wanting a less-expensive station.

  This is the first soldering station I have ever owned. I am using it to build the first project I have ever done that is based on a pcb. So far it is great. I was able to actually figure out how to use it. My only complaint is that I did not buy a very small chisel tip at the same time-and that is my own fault! I also want to get a better tip cleaner. The one that comes with it is fine,but I tend to use it A LOT! I am frequently getting too much solder on the tip and needing to get rid of the excess.

  Bought this to replace my tenma 21-147, which I kicked off my bench and into field work. VERY fast to heat up; just under 25 seconds from power on to 685F with the included tip! Not the biggest fan of the keypad layout; when trying to adjust temperature by a few degrees often wind up hitting the preset instead. Separate buttons would do wonders, but it's a small(ish) gripe considering I don't change temperatures all that often.

  FINALLY, A GREAT TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED, LCD READOUT AT A GREAT PRICE FOR THE HOME TECHNICIAN. I use this iron on a daily basis, it heats up in less than 10 seconds to your set temperature and keeps the setting with no problem even while in use. I also love the preset temp buttons making it easy to switch between different soldering tasks. My only gripe if you can call it that is that the unit only comes with one tip, otherwise do not hesitate to purchase one of these for your home shop.
