Another Tenma product I love from moment one.

After owning the 72-6202 true RMS multimeter and 21-147a solder station for around 16 years I expect to be pleased with my purchase. Until 10-2012 I've only replaced test leads, fuses and batteries in my multi-meter. If it didn't read correctly replace the battery. As for the solder station the only part that wasn't a common service part was the on-off switch that failed after several years of daily service. Replace the tips and sponges regularly along with keeping the station clean while visually inspecting it has given me years and years of faithful service. I put off purchasing a rework station due to cost for quite some time as electronic repair is a secondary income theses days. Everything is moving to SMD/BGA chips and a standard soldering/desoldering set no longer gets the job done. With Tenma's unit coming in around one hundred dollars it was time. After reviewing others plus viewing the available replacement parts list I find this a solid purchase. Upon receipt set up was as easy as two screws to set either left or right hand mounting of the gun. Select from one of the three included tips, set your temp and airspeed. Profit.... I promptly popped a breaker at my workstation upon first trial, please note this thing pulls a lot of current for the first 30 seconds. 700 watts rated and 721 according to my kill-a-watt meter during startup with air and temp. at max settings. Not a big deal, just had solder/desolder/ power supply and lamp on same loop. No noticeable feedback or emi to lights/ desktop/ laptop/ tablet computers or home and cell phones on same bench or wireless signals. Also runs internal fan until low temperature is reached before full sleep mode. Calibratable. Will check with k-type later. One note: you may wish to take this outside or have fume extractor for first few minutes of operation. Puts out a strong odor until packaging greases have been burned off.
