Works well and a great value for the money.

      Overall: 5 out of 5

I've owned this audio generator for over 10 years and have given it moderate use. I have never had to service it or perform any calibrations. The only thing I wish it had was a fine adjustment. When I have the time, I will look into adding a fine adjustment control. If you need a really stable output frequency, turn it on for about 20 to 30 minutes to let it warm up and stabilize before use. (Standard procedure for any test equipment, regardless of brand.) I'm completely happy with it and would buy another if this one ever failed and was beyond repair. I use it for tuning subwoofer cabinets, designing/modifying guitar pedals, testing new tone stack designs and all sorts of other uses. I have a VHF/UHF ham radio that I will be calibrating tomorrow and I will be using this signal generator (along with a deviation meter) to set the FM modulation. It can also be used to calibrate AM modulation, as well. If you need a reliable audio source, this is the instrument to get. You can't beat Tenma quality. I have a lot of Tenma equipment on my bench. I even have a Tenma oscilloscope that I bought 26 years ago and it still works great.

      Excellent Value

      Overall: 4.5 out of 5

Mine exceeds the published specifications. Although a meaningful statistical analysis for my sample size of 1 may not mean too much, this is really a useful tool. Mine measured just 0.02% THD at 1 kHz, 10kHz, and 0.022% at 20kHz. The distortion content is 2nd harmonic with just a touch of the rectifier circuit that stabilizes the amplitude visible. The low frequency THD does increase to around 0.035% at 100Hz. The distortion stays the lowest at the low end of the range. Example, 1kHz is better using x100 and 10 on the dial than x100 on the dial and the x10 range. The amplitude from 20Hz to 20kHz stayed within 0.15dB. The square wave is clean and symmetric with no overshoot or ringing. The ability to go to 1MHz is great for testing the I.F. stages of old AM radios and really making sure amplifier circuits are properly filtered or stable among other things. The only thing is the frequency adjust feels plastic and cheap compared th the old LAG120 it replaced.

      72-455A - Audio Generator

      Overall: 4 out of 5

Great Unit. We use 6 of them daily and just purchased 2 more for new tech benches. Highly recommended.

      Great audio generator, poor reliability

      Overall: 2 out of 5

Mine keeps blowing the 100mA power fuse, near the power receptacle.

bought this several years ago, used it a few times, after some time I blew the 100mA power fuse on the rear probably touching the output lead where I should have avoided.
