  I now own two of these. Back when Circuit City was liquidating, I scored a couple of internal 500GB Seagate 3.5" SATA drives for pennies on the dollar. I bought them, knowing that I had nowhere to put them. (Guess I'm like my wife when she sees a good deal on shoes!) The ToughTech is the perfect device to allow me to use these drives with any computer. I've tried all of the interfaces: USB, Firewire, eSATA. Obviously, eSATA is the best performer, but operation has been rock solid on Solaris 10 (SPARC) and OpenSolaris 2009.06 (x86 & SPARC) and on Windows XP Pro. Presently, I have them connected via Firewire and are using them as part of a ZFS pool under OpenSolaris. My only complaint is they do get quite warm, so you need to leave appropriate airspace, but that's the price paid for quiet, no-fan passive cooling. Installing a drive is simple. Remove three screws, slide out the chassis, screw the shock mounts onto the drive and insert, connect cables, and reassemble. You're even provided a small screwdriver; no other tools required. So far, couldn't be more pleased!
